Fresh off dominating the New Hampshire straw poll over the weekend, Mitt Romney got another boost to his presidential aspirations in the form of a new national Rasmussen poll that shows the former Massachusetts Governor leading his potential competition for the GOP nomination.
In the poll, 24% of respondents went for Romney, while 19% supported Sarah Palin, and 17% said Mike Huckabee was their top choice. Newt Gingrich came in fourth at 11%, followed by Tim Pawlenty (6%), Ron Paul (4%), and Mitch Daniels (3%). An aditional 16% said they were either undecided or planned to vote for another candidate.

The results are a slight improvement for Romney since Rasmussen last polled the question in November. In that survey, Romney still led the field at 20%, though Huckabee and Palin each trailed him by just one point, at 19%.
Romney is hardly the consensus front runner. Though the more well-known Republicans --Romney, Palin, Huckabee, and Gingrich -- have consistently lead in primary polling, there's a lot of fluidity in where they stand within that top tier. Two polls last week placed Huckabee well ahead of the crowd, while Palin topped a PPP survey in late November.

Levin said that?
For 2016. 2012 is already over.
Either that, or 10 Romneys in it to dilute the RINO vote. Where’s Rudy? Where’s Huntsman?
Right now he's got the Mamma-Grizzly drawing the fire away from him. But laying low too long is the Fred Thompson strategy and wont work. Eventually he will have to come out of hiding, MSNBC seems to like him, at least Matthews anyway.
A good thing to hope for is for an articulate accomplished (like governor) 'conservative' (no TARP, no amnesty, no abortion past support) who doesn't have a bunch of basket-case sounding partisan past quotes that they will feel the need to run from, and who has not been over exposed, or under-experienced politically. We need someone to unite conservatives and moderates like Reagan did.
Well, not behind the Resolute desk, anyway.
The problem is they only make a Reagan about once every hundred years. SO I’ll settle for someone I know who is a staunch conservative and hope for the best. My days of trying to decide “who could win” are long gone. They are either a genuine, proven conservative, or they won’t get my vote.
you are just rotten to the core....I like you...
Well, he used “Repubicans” to refer to RINOs.
Huck and Romney are the way to almost ensure a 2nd fauxbama term... How anyone can take either of these guys seriously is beyond me.
Romney is a socialist and Huckabee is a banjo-playing, girly-boy, pansy.
Amen! Has everybody forgotten about the dog crate incident?
That showed a serious lack of empathy and common sense.
Also,I could be mistaken about this, but didn’t he have illegal aliens working at the Governor’s mansion in MA?
Here's a few possible signs that a timebomb candidate was nominated:
1) They change all their positions for the current campaign, they suddenly become born-again conservatives from a long RINO past, Recent example : John McCain
2) They get the nomination and run in the general election repudiating the ‘conservative’ positions/statements they took in the primary (where they sounded cool) .
3) Alternatively to ‘2)’, they get asked about the past statements and go into hiding so that they cant be asked anymore. Their campaign staff (experts) have warned them that their past statements are the ‘kiss of death’ to their election chances and maybe they will just go away after time. But they don't
DeMint or Bachmann.................forget the rest.
DeMint AND Bachmann
OK.........twist my arm ;-)
Did someone announce?
;-)
Nope. Knowing my luck, neither will. uhg.
We can't wait for that. This must be settled right NOW. Our country is at stake :)
