INFORMED GUESSES FOLLOW
“...NBC executives said one term of his settlement will keep him from moving to another network for an extended period of time.”
24 months. Get them through 2012 election.
“NBC executives said the move had nothing to do with the impending takeover of NBC Universal by Comcast. “
Probably BS, but matters not. Dead is dead. Grave doesn't care how you died.
“Mr. Olbermann had signed a four-year contract extension in 2008 for an estimated $30 million.”
40% of contractual $ until original end of contract. Free to do speeches, book deals.

Anyone notice the irony of this moron’s content on the site and then the name of his book?
“In a Special Comment, Countdown’s Keith Olbermann recounts asking every politician and commentator to renounce violent rhetoric and apologize for any use of it, even inadvertent.”
And then he titles his new book Pitchfork and Torches where he takes aim at Beck, et al. I suppose he doesn’t realize what those pitchfork and torches where used for when the mob took to the streeets?
What a moron. Good riddance. Now if we can get that hag Maddow off the airwaves...sheesh.

I’m sure we’ll see him doing with a duet with Bill Maher on HBO this time next week. Those two eggheads were meant for each other.

Thanks for your analysis. It would be nice to have a two year break from him.

Odd.
I wonder why.
I’m thinking he was offered a better job somewhere. (Is the White House Press secretary job still open?)

This would have all been spelled out in his current contract.
The headline that he is fired / contract ending is wrong. What is happening simply is NBC is exercising sub-paragraph # 283,(b), LXXIV, (1) (or there abouts...) that says what happens when they choose to take him off air.
No modern talent contract requires them to give you airtime, but they have “play me or pay me” provisions. Only contract I ever knew that guaranteed airtime was Paul Harvey's.
Have a good weekend.
