Case in point: Few outside of the blogosphere can tell you what the Tea Party movement is actually for. Most just think it's Sarah Palin's personal political party. The vast majority would agree with its basic ideals (that the federal government should have less control and authority in our lives, and should not take as much form us in taxes). However, since the Right simply isn't doing much to get out that message, the Tea Party is instead mislabeled, smeared with homosexual epithets, and is left in virtual anonymity.
Good point about people not knowing what the Tea Party stands for outside of how the Left portrays Sarah Palin.
One place to begin is to explain to family, friends and neighbors, that it isn’t any one group but an idea born of necessity and why Congress changed hands in 2010 and why all Americans who want their children and grandchildren to live a good life need to vote to remove Democrats locally, statewide and on the national scene.
Tell your family that the Tea Party is against higher taxes and redistribution of their money, and for the right to protect and defend themselves and their property.
Plant the seed of truth. It must be done. It’s uncomfortable for many because the Left has been very effective in saying that anyone who talks like that is a racist, a gun nut and a selfish SOB. People who know you, and who don’t see you that way, will stop and wonder and start asking questions. And the truth will grow and spread.
And there is nothing like the scorn and energy that will come from those who eventually understand that they have been played for fools.
