"How about over one year?"

They had to make it look bigger so the media can begin the chatter about old people eating dog food and the children dying from lack of health care.

Rush was on a roll yesterday. Do away with FCC,unconstitutional Czars of BO’s for starts. So many cuts or eliminations had me shoutin’ in my truck....wish I could remember more but I’ve been asleep since then. :)

$1.4 trillion deficit this year.

This ‘cut’ isn’t even coming close to what is needed.

I’m beginning to notice who my budget balancing FRiends are here on FR.

Our publicly held debt is $9T. Our GDP is $14T. Countries typically have to default when their Debt to GDP ratio equals 100%. We will be in default in five years if we run these Republican proposed $1T deficits.

Here is my pet peeve du jure though (and some have said it). This congress can’t speak for future congresses. The only thing they can speak to is what they do. We shouldn’t be distracted by what they say congress will do after 2013.

How about [eliminating $2.5 trillion] over one year?

That's exactly what I was thinking...

By the way: does anyone know if the National Endowment for the Arts will be stripped *completely* from the public dole? (I also note with great satisfaction that "Title X Family Planning"--i.e. Planned Parenthood--is on the "axe" list, at long last...!)

I hate it when the Dems engage in deception with “10 year” projections and I equally hate it when the GOP does the same thing. Americans need to know how much spending the GOP House intends to authorize for the next fiscal year. Anything beyond that is smoke and mirrors. The US has had a trillion dollar+ deficit for two consecutive years. The number for 2011-12 will be the clearest indication of whether the GOP has received the message from the voters.

How about over one year?

EXACTLY. Over ten years is a big lie, a promise they won’t keep, hell they won’t even be in office then. Its just 250 billion a year less than 1 billion a day.

FREEZE THE DEBT CEILING.
