I agree 100% with the principals Jim articulated at the start of this thread. I think most of the people at FR do also.
It's pretty clear that more of the same in Washington will not get us out of this mess. If the Republicans retake our federal government it won't help a bit if the RINO’s are the ones in control. So part of our task is to clean house in the Republican Party. No more RINO’s.
Due to personal concerns I haven't posted much in several years, but it's time for a rant.
To simplify a bit, it seems to me the “Republican” party has two main branches. The RINO wing has fewer people but has control of the party machinery. The Conservative wing has the passion and fire, plus more people.
The typical “Republican” political consultant believes that the way to win an election is to move to the center/left. Regardless of how unhappy that makes the Conservative wing, we have no place to go so eventually we'll fall in line. Meanwhile, moving to the center/left will have a better chance of bringing in the independents, plus the media will go a little bit easier.
Our politicians have been listening to these consultants for decades. In the short run it has a chance to work. In the long run it leads to slow but constant march to the left.
Our nation's leaders have now gone so far to the left that our very survival is in doubt. Our financial house is such a mess that we may very well have passed the point of no return. Our entertainment industry has nearly destroyed the moral fabric of the nation. Our welfare/entitlement mentality has turned many of our people into dependent serfs.
I don't see any way out of this mess unless there is a major change in world view on the part of a significant number of people. Unfortunately, people generally do not change their world views once they have become settled. A major crisis seems to be needed before people will re-examine the way they look at the world.
That major crisis is now upon us. It will get much worse before it starts to get better.
I think we are in for very hard times, but our nation has been through hard times before. The War for Independence was pretty dang tough, and so was the Civil War. We suffered a lot, but we emerged stronger when they were over.
Hard times are not something ANY of us want to see. But that is what we face. OUR job, NOW, as individuals, is to make sure we do our best in the circumstances we find ourselves in. That will vary depending on the person.
Each of us, individually, may feel powerless in the face of calamity. We can do more than we realize, but we also need groups we can work with. FR is one such group.
Personally, I think there are only two ways to consider our current situation:
1. The end times are nearly upon us, or;
2. We have one last chance to save the last best hope of mankind.
Since I don't know when the end times will arrive, I'm assuming my role as an individual is to do what I can to help with possibility #2.
I heard that rant. Good rant!
Excellent post.
Thank you
