Even some Democrats have to be getting tired of the race card getting played all the time.
There's a major shift in demographics and beliefs underway, and because of their behavior over the last 40-50 years the Dems are poorly positioned to capitalize on it.
The generation(s) that experienced segregation (and were able to be guilt-tripped by it) are dying off. They're being replaced by younger folks who could really care less about race: the color of someone's skin matters to them as much as the color of that person's eyes or hair (NO ginger jokes, please!).
Yet given all this the Dems are STILL playing the Identity Politics game. Which is not only no longer working (at least as well as it once did), but is also poised to be an albatross around their necks. Why? Because the various special interests that the Dems have been catering to via Identity Politics are STILL members of the Dem coalition, and STILL want to be catered to.

More to the point, the younger generations of white males have been discriminated against by affirmative action, both in college and in the workplace. Now the job market sucks, and it will REALLY stick in a guy's craw if he's unemployed and gets passed over in favor of others for PC reasons.
