Russia warns of ‘Iranian Chernobyl'

Russian nuclear scientists are providing technical assistance to Iran's attempts activate the country's first nuclear power plant at the Gulf port.
But they have raised serious concerns about the extensive damage caused to the plant's computer systems by the mysterious Stuxnet virus, which was discovered last year and is widely believed to have been the result of a sophisticated joint US-Israeli cyber attack. According to Western intelligence reports, Russian scientists warned the Kremlin that they could be facing "another Chernobyl" if they were forced to comply with Iran's tight deadline to activate the complex this summer.
After decades of delays over the plant, which was first commissioned by the Shah in the 1970s, Iran's leaders are demanding that scientists stick to the schedule set last year. They argue that any delay would be a blow to Iran's international prestige.
Bushehr is due to produce its first electricity for Iran's national grid this summer after Russian technicians started loading the first nuclear rods into the reactor last October.

One would think that a nation infecting a foreign nation’s nuke plants with a virus would be an act of war. I am surprised that Hillary and Obama are not brought up on War Crimes.
All it takes is some c4 at safety controls and coolant pipes.
Not yet but she’s working to “level the playing field” by sharing stuff.
So, which way do the prevailing winds blow from the plant location? And who’s up first for radiation?
It’s possible that the Russians are having second thoughts about their involvement with a country led by unreliable and unpredictable religious zealots.
They sell uranium and nuclear technology to Iran, and help them build reactors for “peaceful” use, knowing full well that the leadership is fanatically crazy and planning to trigger a nuclear Armageddon to hasten the end-times arrival of the Twelfth Imam.
They enjoy the easy billions of rubles they’re making off the backward Iranians, but they sure don’t want a nuclear Armageddon. After all, they’re now capitalists. So what do they do? They slow down the program, just enough to keep their cash-cow going, while keeping the Iranians dependent on them.
They do this in two ways. First, they kill some of the key Iranian nuclear scientists, knowing full well it will be blamed on the Mossad. Assassination is something the FSB (former KGB)is very good at. Back home, it gets a lot of practice killing anti-establishment reporters and other dissidents. Among all those Russian scientists, technologists, and advisers in place at the nuclear sites in Iran, there surely must be a few FSB operators who work with and know their intended targets. For them, it is a piece of cake. For the Mossad, it would be much more difficult.
Second, they plant the Stuxnet virus. Again, virus creation and detection are technologies that they’re very good at. Furthermore, this is a virus that was tailored specifically for the Iranian nuclear program, of which their technical advisers had the necessary inside knowledge. They are successful.
Now, though, the crazies in charge want to go ahead anyway. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out.
Real, systemic damage.
However, the flip side is that the Russians probably cannot stop the maniacal Iranian regime. If the Russians pull out the Iranians will likely continue their death march.
