BEIJINGChinese President Hu Jintao emphasized the need for cooperation with the U.S. in areas from new energy to space ahead of his visit to Washington this week, but he called the present U.S. dollar-dominated currency system a "product of the past" and highlighted moves to turn the yuan into a global currency.
"We both stand to gain from a sound China-U.S. relationship, and lose from confrontation," Mr. Hu said in written answers to questions from The Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post.
Mr. Hu acknowledged "some differences and sensitive issues between us," but his tone was generally compromising, and he avoided specific mention of some of the controversial issues that have dogged relations with the U.S. over the past year or soincluding U.S. arms sales to Taiwan that led to a freeze in military relations between the world's sole superpower and its rising Asian rival.

Did you really think things were going to change?
China Questions Value of $USD
So do I. So do I.
We’re not exactly in a strong bargaining position with the Chinese here, that’s for sure.

If by electing a bunch of law school graduates from liberal universities in the Northeast and California the result is that the country is floundering, when do you start drawing the conclusion that people with this background are likely to be incompetent? Hopefully sooner than later.
Until we widely acknowledge that attending, graduating from, or being faculty at a recognized university doesn’t guarantee you know anything substantive about how to run the government, we will continue to have the incompetent eggheads who have led us down this path. If Palin was a quarter as smart as she is, but had graduated from Wellesley, the media would not be pushing the idea she is stupid like they are now.

A second term for Dear Leader would be a death knell for the US dollar and the economy. Wait’ll he’s a second term lame duck if you want to see extremism.
The plan is to devalue the dollar to make our debt/payments more manageable.
Why bother? You really think Boehner is going to lead the R’s or this nation out of this mess. He doesn’t impress me one bit. The Dems still have the spotlight and their not going to relinquish it without a fight. They’ll keep Boehner and company jumping thru hoops for the next 2 years. By the time 2012 rolls around our economy will be 10X worst than it is now. Guess who will get the blame. Let me tell you. The Republican controlled House, Sarah Palin, and George Bush. And the American voters will buy it lock, stock, and barrel.

How does devaluing the dollar make our debt more manageable?
Lower dollar, higher oil. Higher oil, less spending. The economy suffers, tax revenues fall.
However, when it comes down to it.....the trillions in debt to China is unmanageable, regardless of how devalued/valued the dollar is.
This type of debt should never be imposed on citizens without their approval by a national vote.
We pay off debt at a lower value, say 10 cents on the dollar. You don't want to hold dollars.
I'm not saying this is good, but that's where we're going.
If we lose reserve currency status, we would be screwed big time.
Quitter, wimp? Who you talking to man. I’m a realist. I know what it’s gonna take to get us out of this. It damn sure has nothing to do with phones and emails. You can call and email these political clowns till your blue in the face and it accomplishes nothing.
