The Glock 17 is simply an updated John Moses Browning design. Obviously you have never held, much less ever shot a 1911. There are absolutely zero similarities between the Glock and 1911 actions.
As for the Glock plastic frame concept and the use of a polygonal barrel in a pistol, it was developed in Germany by Heckler & Koch.

Ug, I remember the VP70Z.
Had a trigger pull like a friggin staple gun.
It was a civilianized version of a 3 shot burst machine pistol, which I'm sure was as useful a feature as it was a beautiful firearm (gag).

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.
