Earlier this week, on its last day of session, a lame-duck Illinois Legislature passed a 67-percent income tax increase, along with large business and corporate tax hikes. The measure was approved by just a single vote, and was shrouded in backroom deals and payoffs to constituency groups across the board. The Chicago Tribunes lead editorial the following day had a short headline: Goodbye, Jobs.
Governors and other politicians from Missouri, Wisconsin and Indiana are all looking to capitalize on the self-inflicted wound of a competing state, erecting welcome signs at their borders inviting Illinois residents and businesses to relocate. Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels likened his neighbor state to the dysfunctional family down the block, while newly-elected Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker told taxpayers to Escape to Wisconsin!
Michigan has plenty of its own problems, but Gov. Rick Snyder might also consider rolling out the welcome mat to fed-up Illinois business owners voting with their feet.
Illinois is fast becoming the economic abyss of the Midwest. According to a 60 Minutes report on the subject of state budgets, the Land of Lincoln now never pays its bills on time, with $5 billion outstanding; its more than six months behind on paying for things like Medicaid, state colleges, small business pharmacists and government workers...

You would think they would learn from California. 1000’s of companies have moved out of California due to the taxes and the regulations. Eventually, it will be nothing but illegals leaving off of welfare.
Illinois needs a community organizer to solve their problems. I know where they can get a real good one.
The same old tired DemoRAT solution to EVERYTHING. Raise taxation. They are idiots and fools. As noted by another poster, Taxifornia is a classic example of the destruction that DemoRAT rule causes.
We used to do state contracts occasionally. Never again. Having to hire an attorney to get paid by your state eats up any profit you can make.
I think it is set up that way. They want the work all done by state-union thugs. We don’t even bother to bid on the work anymore.
Please, no more Socialists, Liberals, Communists or Democrats moving to Texas. We are trying to get ours to leave.
Any contractor would be a fool to start work under a contract with Illinois unless they got paid 100% up front.
Given the screwed up highway laws I doubt they will be moving to the screwed up state of Indiana. Indiana cops hate the transportation industry.
Watch a lot of Illinois-based companies head to Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and so on—the South rises again!
Tax and give away to everyone who pays no taxes IS the Democrat plan. Just a matter of time before the parasites kill the host. Folks in Illinois who have paid taxes and reaped no benefit are asked to pay even more in taxes to the “tick” class.
KY Jelly sales should be strong in Illinois with all the taxpayers being bent over.
They can stay the hell outa Montana too!!
Hmmmm, with the employers and jobs going away, Illinois will have to really hike the taxes on the remainder to balance it’s budget...
...apparently a majority of the people who actually vote like what they are getting.
I guess too many conservatives find something else to do on election day...sigh
I proudly voted for Brady, but Quinn did promise to veto any tax hike greater than 1% of income. This is a 2% rise (we were at 3% before, now 5%).
We also just passed a law allowing for the recall of the governor. I am hearing rumblings from various groups to head this up based on the broken promise.
I hope it gets some legs. I’m the father of a three year old and a one year old, plus work 50 to 60 hours a week. I am willing to support any group with money and some time, but I am not willing to lead it. Not now.
Caterpillar from Peoria already has a significant presence in NE Mississippi and the managers here say they are going to expand....

United Airlines should reconsider locating its headquarters in Chicago after the merger with Continental.
Bet Boeing could get a great deal from the State of Washington to relocate its HQ back to Seattle.
They could also relocate to the Dallas area; as could United Airlines.
Ditto. They come here for the jobs, but after about a year they start griping and making fun of Texas. Then they start voting RAT to make if feel more like home.
All good conservatives welcome who want to live in a low taxing, low services state. Welfare queens, limo libs and all RATS stay away.
