Republican U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison has announced that she will retire after her current term expires.
In a letter released Thursday, Hutchison said she will not run for re-election in 2012. Hutchison has said she might retire and then changed her mind several times in the last few years. In 2010, she challenged Gov. Rick Perry in the Republican primary for governor, but lost.
Hutchison has been in the Senate since 1993.

She’s made this claim before.
But if she does step down, I’ll gladly take her place. We need some FR blood in Congress.

Apparently, Kay finally read the handwriting on the wall.

She sees the handwriting on the wall and has been found wanting. She knows she’ll lose. Good riddance.

I hope the Tea Party has a couple of awesome candidates to choose among. We’ve got too many moderate/RINO Republicans in TX.

I recommend that FReepers give thought to supporting Ted Cruz in the GOP primary. He’s a true future national star in the making, and a rock-solid conservative.

Apparently, Kay finally read the handwriting on the wall. In fact, she was mortally wounded when Rick Perry called her Kay Beltway Hutchinson.
The moniker stuck to her like stink on a skunk.

Really? The Perry bomb that stuck the most for me was Kay Bailout.
I do like the way that Slick Rick campaigns. His barbs are funny, concise, and stick. Not even that bad of a governor. But I don’t trust him. Not one inch.

“Retire now ditz and allow Gov. Perry to appoint your replacement.”
No way will she do that! She's going to insure that we get stuck with an even bigger RINO or a democrap.
(As an ultraconservative I hope for better, but unfortunately I can see the demographic writing on the wall. It's very unlikely we'll get someone I, and most of the members of this group, will care for).
