You know, I would bet his parents have been attempting to assist their son his entire sad life. And with idiot teachers being cruel, and the school system being inept and probably wanting to medicate him and the proper assistance being very difficult to obtain and our current society being hideous to white males in general, I bet it was a walk in the valley of the shadow of death. And now things have gotten worse. I just hope his parents know Christ. Do you suppose Hinkley’s parents knew? And if so, could actually have done anything? Do ou have a 22 year old son? Do you have any idea how powerful a driven 22 year old person is? If so, spill. Do tell. Let us in on your insight. Tell us about the times you have been awakened in the night by the calls and the drives you have made to address trouble in the night and the costs you have coughed up to attempt to address the issues....do tell.

He has lived with the “empowerment” teaching his whole life. I can’t imagine trying to raise a kid these days.

I have not personally had to deal with that. I would put effort into such a problem, but I can't honestly say how much and certainly can't predict if I would be successful. I have seen the results of drug use and I am aware of the amount of damage that can do to the mind and how difficult it is to deal with people on drugs.

Overall your point is fair, I have no evidence to blame the parents.

Maybe all you say is true. But without reporters asking questions no one knows. Did his parents try to help him? did they respond to the community college’s suggestion that he get help? or did they ignore him? cover up for the trouble he was getting in? Do any reporters actually work in journalism anymore? So people don’t have to assume - someone in the media needs to ask fact based questions.

First, let me say this is all *hearsay*. And, the reporting on this case has been the worst of the worst. So I don't want to add to that. But, here goes.

Jerry Doyle had a woman on his radio show today, who said she knew of the family. She said they are of limited means, but that they did try to help him.

But Loughner is a legal adult, so if he didn't want to be helped, there wasn't much they could do.

Imagine how distraught they are at this time. Probably thinking they should have done more. May we all keep them in our prayers, as well as Ms. Giffords, the other victims, and their families.
