It was stated earlier the sheriff told the people who were threatened by this POS that the mental health authorities were on it and further action was not needed.....did he just flat out lie?

I agree, and don’t hold ANY confidence in a law enforcement officer that publicly states he will not uphold the law.
The point being if this man is culpable to this assasination attempt the full fury of the law should be TARGETED (yes, TARGETED) at him, even more because he is a law enforcement officer.
