Sarah Palin's hard core base is not very large in comparison with the U.S. population. The ratings of her reality TV series did not even warrent renewal of the series and the ratings plummeted after the curiosity of the first episode passed.

Most of the voters will not research the facts of this case very deeply. All they will know is that Sarah Palin was politically dumb enough to use a hunting scope reticle pattern in a political campaign.

Did Sarah Palin "mean" to use hunting scope reticles in order to be cute about "targeting" her political opponents and mixing up her hunting image (popular when preaching to the choir) with her political image.

Was that an incredibly stupid political blunder because hunting scope reticles are not considered "cute" in political debate among the Independents that outnumber Democrats and far outnumber all Republicans?

Nobody with a normal IQ and without paranoid delusions gives a dam about some marks on a map. Most American voters are neither morons nor lunatics and the number of people in the country who will entertain for a moment the idea that Sarah Palin deserves some blame for the Arizona shootings is negligible. The overwhelming majority will dismiss the suggestion as insane and anyone who makes it as a loon.

The more the left pushes the ridiculous idea that Sarah is guilty of overheated, irresponsible rhetoric the more it will discredit itself and immunize her against its critique. Yes the left controls the media. So what? It isn't all powerful. When something clearly isn't shinola, the left can't convince people to shine shoes with it. And the idea that the tragedy in Arizona reflects badly on Sarah in any way is very clearly not shinola.

Relax, stop worrying about what the left is going to do and start thinking about how to use their own foolishness against them.

What I find really embarrassing for Palin is that 1) the map was taken down right after the shooting, making it look like she felt guilty and 2) her spokesperson on the Tammy Bruce show said they were surveyors marks when Palin herself had called them targets/bulls-eyes. Why bother trying to change the story? That amounts to admitting she was wrong or has a problem.
