Schizoid is a completely different diagnosis than schizophrenia. It is NOT an abbreviation for someone who is schizophrenic, as Jared Loughner likely was.

Correct on that. It is not unusual for pre-schizophrenics to pass through a schizoid stage, but Schizoid Personality Disorder (sometimes merged with Avoidant Personality Disorder) is a separate disorder, is not a psychotic disorder and is not associated with violence.
