Actually, a Sheriff can in fact be “impeached”. It is not easy, in most cases it never happens and it doesn’t happen often. Most bad Sheriffs are simply voted out.

You state constitution discusses the matter. I’m sure it’s addressed in further detail within the laws of your state.... I know that it is in mine.

“9-4. Malfeasance and misfeasance in office.
The presidents of the county courts, the justices of the peace, sheriffs, prosecuting attorneys, clerks of the circuit and of the county courts, and all other county officers shall be subject to indictment for malfeasance, misfeasance, or neglect of official duty and upon conviction thereof, their office shall become vacant.”
