They say “suspected” because they are still hoping (I’d add praying, but leftists only talk about doing that) against hope that there is still an accomplice out there who is a member of the Tea Party.

He’s not guilty until a jury of his peers SAYS SO. He’s not even accused until a prosecutor SAYS SO. Therefore, “suspected” is probably the best word right now.

The use of “suspect” “suspected” “alleged” is decades old, at least, and stems from our having too much litigation in our society.
