The No. 2 Senate Democrat is calling on lawmakers and the media to tone down the political language in the wake of a congresswoman's shooting in Arizona.

Illinois Sen. Richard Durbin tells CNN's "State of the Union" that "toxic rhetoric" can lead unstable individuals to believe violence is an acceptable response

Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., is warning against blaming political groups for the attack.

It could be that Sheriff Dupnik is trying to turn away scrutiny about the abysmal lack of concern about this gunman. And just what was the offense they will not name?

Dupnik said the suspected shooter has made death threats before and been contacted by law-enforcement officers. The threats weren't against Giffords, Dupnik said. Suspect in rampage called 'very disturbed' (has made death threats before)

Clarence Dupnik, the sheriff of Pima County, Ariz., said he would not enforce Arizona's new immigration law, calling it "racist" and "disgusting."

That's right Dick, lets keep our derogatory remarks confined to the American Military, shall we?

"If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime -- Pol Pot or others -- that had no concern for human beings." [excerpt from Washingto Post]......”We live in a world of violent images and violent words,” said Majority Whip Durbin, citing the phrase “don’t retreat, reload,” a paraphrase of a statement used in a tweet by former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. But Durbin shied away from making a direct connection between Saturday’s shooting and the rhetoric of any specific group. “I don’t think you can ever make the direct connection,” said Durbin.

Asked if Democrats were just as guilty Durbin said, “I don’t want to point those fingers. ... We owe it to our own in both political parties to have at least the good sense ... to say, ‘Wait a minute, that just goes too far,’ whether it comes from the right or the left.”

Alexander, when asked to respond, distanced the actions of alleged gunman Jared Loughner from the rhetoric of other politically active individuals and groups like the tea party. “I think in all of the talk about this, we have to be very careful about imparting the actions of a deranged individual” to other groups. Alexander cited Loughner’s reportedly having read Karl Marx and reports that he had burned the American flag, saying that those were not the typical actions of tea party members.

“Ordinary political discourse should never, underline never, invite violence,” emphasized Durbin. “At some point we need to ask the question: How did this man ... end up with this weapon,” continued Durbin, referring indirectly to the fact that Loughner reportedly came to possess a gun through legal channels. That democrats call for less “toxic rhetoric” is laughable in light of the overt blind hate they spat at president Bush for 8 years. Some nerve.

Now that it’s known this guy is a liberal, after all the vitriol spewed by these lunatics, NOW they want to tone it down. Typical liberals.

Liberals use horrific misfortunes as opportunities for their agenda. To wit, "Democrat pollster Mark Penn appeared on MSNBC’s Hardball and said that President Clinton reconnected with his speech after the Oklahoma City bombings, and Obama needs a similar situation to do the same."

I personally remember how liberals used the JFK assassination for ideological gain by blaming conservatives for "hate and violence" in the political language.

We cannot let them get away with lies again(!) that lead to the suppression of our inalienable right of free speech.

Demand that they present FACTS not lies. Where's the brief!

Senator Dick Durbin appeared on CNN’s State of the Union and told Candy Crowley that Sarah Palin’s gun imagery of targeting certain congressional districts was “beyond the bounds” and “not acceptable rhetoric.” Although when pressed by Crowley, Durbin did not want to suggest there was a direct connection between the rhetoric and yesterday’s shooting of Congresswoman Giffords, nor whether there was similarly unacceptable rhetoric amongst Democrats.

Durbin explained:

“We live in a world of violent images and violent words, but those of us in public life and the journalists who cover us, should be thoughtful in response to this and try to bring down the rhetoric, which I’m afraid has become pervasive in our discussion of political issues. The phrase ‘don’t retreat, reload’ – putting crosshairs on congressional districts as targets – these sorts of things I think invite the kind of toxic rhetoric that can lead unstable people to believe this is an acceptable response.” Video on this page

I’m following comments after “Breaking News” and “WAPO” on Facebook. Judging by the crazed liberal responses, I think there will be a national shortage of Xanax tomorrow...

Post this everywhere:

“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” “Argue with neighbors, Get in their face!,” “If you get hit, we will punch back twice as hard,” “I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry.” “Punish your enemies” “We talk to these folks… so I know whose ass to kick.“ “I’m itching for a fight.” “Hand-to-hand combat” - President Barack Obama

“Today we have seen the results” of “irresponsible and dangerous rhetoric,” former Democratic senator and presidential candidate Gary Hart wrote on Huffington Post. “Those with a megaphone, whether provided by public office or a media outlet, have responsibilities. They cannot avoid the consequences of their blatant efforts to inflame, anger, and outrage.”

Nor can a Democrat ever avoid the chance to exploit a tragedy for political gain.

Senate Democrat is calling on lawmakers and the media to tone down the political language in the wake of a congresswoman's shooting in Arizona.

That's because the killer is a liberal. If he had been a conservative, they would be building a memorial to the victims and the total Democratic administration would be making the trek out West to speak of the dangers of 'hatred'. As is, the killer being a liberal, soon we'll hear crickets.

Durbin, Senator from Illinois, talking to the media.  “When we asked questions of the white male nominees of a Republican president, we were basically trying to find out whether — to make sure that they would go far enough in understanding the plight of minorities, because clearly that was not in their DNA.”  So Republicans are genetically racist, genetically inferior, Dick Durbin said.
