Following the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), some Democrats are targeting political rhetoric they say could encourage violent behavior.
Steve Israel, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said the event was "both a personal tragedy and a tragic reminder that we cannot remain silent when political rhetoric turns violent."
Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) said, "America must not tolerate violence or inflammatory rhetoric that incites political violence."
"Even though we do not have all the answers yet, we are all too familiar with the violent and polarizing climate in which we live," said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), the new chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. "Those of us in leadership must be overly cautious of fanning the flames of extremism in hopes to prevent another horrendous tragedy such as this."
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence called for a return to civil political discourse.

Right. My theory was that this was someone who had a personal beef with her. As it turns out, the shooter looks like a schizophrenic, or drug-addled, liberal, college-student loner.
Looks like the leftists who accused us of the attack missed that part. :)
Never waste a crisis. Use every opputunity to stifle as many freedoms as possible. An assault on the 1st and 2nd Amendment rights because of ONE criminal. A criminal who, under other circumstances, would be pampered by the Left and excused for his behavior because of race, upbringing, disenfranchisement.... yadda yadda yadda....
You know, as fast as they spewed forth the "Tea Party's fault" talking points, you'd almost think that the entire episode was planned in advance. It's almost like the talking points were put forth before the act occurred.
DEMOCRATS LASH OUT WITH INFLAMMATORY RHETORIC FOLLOWING SHOOTING is what the headline should be.
Well we are talking about Dummies remember.
They think their buddies in the msm will cover their A**es.
In all my life I have never seen anything like this. Truly disgusting that the far left is already politicizinmg this.
The right by comparison is oblivious.
Didn't turn out to well for Goebbels and his family in the end though, reaped what they sowed it appears.
Well we are talking about Dummies remember.
They think their buddies in the msm will cover their A**es.

BUMP!
Yeah, if it were a Republican congressman he targetted, they would have still blamed the Tea Party and gone with the "purge" meme instead.
My CongressWOMAN voted against Nancy Pelosi! And is now DEAD to me!

I am from the Tucson area and live in Congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords’ district. I worked like a dog for her elections when she was in the Arizona House, surrounded by rightwing nutcases. When Arizona re-districted in 2002, a seat opened up and she was right smack in the middle of it. So was I because I live in Oro Valley, Arizona, which is at the heart of that - then - new CD. I was one of several people to talk her into running and pledging complete loyalty and pledging to raise as much money as possible for her.
She ended up running for the first time against a fellow AZ House member, Randy Graf who was a rightwing whacko who advocated guns in bars and was the “Russell Pearce before Russell Pearce” vis-a-vis border issues. With a LOT of hard work and plenty of money, Gabby won. Easier than thought, too. I never like to throw money in people’s faces, but i have given Gabrielle Giffords THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of dollars in both good times and bad times for me financially.
BoyBlue’s diary :: ::
Fast forward to this election season. A weirdo asshole named Jesse Kelly who advocated ELIMINATING Social Security and was a tea bagger favorite got the GOP nom to run against her. I am gay and had been married and my spouse left me January 15, 2010. I shot myself in the mouth in a serious suicide attempt, because of that. Barely surviving, I spent two months in the hospital and still have some paralysis. I did receive a severance from my employer, as i had been laid off in December, 2009. That may have been part of the reason my spouse left me.
Anyway, after months of physical and mental rehab, I got back into the political scene and started working for Gabby once again. I raised over $100,000 for her and maxed her out myself out of my severance, even though i still don’t have work and could not qualify for state aid because of my severance.
She wins her re-election and told me she was still a supporter of Speaker Pelosi at her victory party. We talked about how Nancy Pelosi was a successful woman and accomplished oh so much in just four years as Speaker.
Today, just a little while ago, I saw on Andrea Mitchell Reports (out of the one eye in can still see out of) that Giffords voted AGAINST Nancy Pelosi as our Minority Leader. Rhetorical question: I fought back from my condition and jumped in with both feet to help Gabrielle Giffords for THIS shit???

Apparently he did have a beef with her.
I condemn this act and I hope the guy is executed.
If a GOP rep. had been targeted we can only imagine the talk coming from the media and the Dems today. This was the act of a lone nut, with no ideology, etc. They would do everything they could to downplay any connection to the left.
As far as their lashing out at bad rhetoric, that almost sounds like a joke. For decades we have heard conservatives are racist, sexist, want old people to die, want poor people to suffer, want to reinstate slavery, etc etc. Now they want the vitriol to stop? What hypocrites.
After the MSM and all the Dems started yelling about all things NON-Leftist... it suddenly occurred to me.... I wonder if Keith Olbermann ever designated Gabby Giffords as “WORST PERSON EVER” -— afterall, she’s a blue dog Dem, and is friends with Rep. Michele Bachmann.
We have from now until then to get prepared.
