Democrats, who were widely perceived to have blown the political messaging over President Obama's signature law, are revving up for a campaign-style offensive in an attempt to get it right the second time around.
The White House has set up a rapid-response operation and was planning to deploy Cabinet secretaries this week to make the Democrats' case in newspaper editorials, on the radio and in satellite interviews with local television stations.
The fundamental problem for the Democrats is that the bill as a whole is widely perceived to raise health-care costs, raise health-insurance premiums, increase taxes, increase the deficit and hurt the quality of care," Republican pollster Whit Ayres said. "That's a five-count indictment that creates major public opinion problems for the health-care reform bill that the Democrats passed."

Perceived? Perceived??? How about it’s already screwed me over with a 50%+ premium increase. It was just fine until they screwed with it...
They can wrap the product in any label they like but the product stinks. No amount of good salesmanship can make a bad product more palatable.
Their job just got tougher...
Evan Thomas: Healthcare Law Is A Disaster
When Evan Thoms, ex-editor of Newsweek, a committed socialist and one-time describor of Obama as "a diety" says that Obamacare is an unmitigated piece of crap, I'm starting to smell the passage of repeal in the Senate.
It was just fine until they screwed with it...
Well, not exactly. They screwed with it and failed to fully explain to the American people that the present system, while the best in the world, was unsustainable, but what they wanted to do wasn’t designed to fix what was wrong with the program.
The math they used, to then explain rationing, end of life issues, millions of additional insured, and the really obvious insurance demands that couldn’t possibly be demanded of a viable profitable company could not be found on this planet.
So, instead of honest and open discussion, of CUTS and CHANGES, they just figured Americans are stupid, but not so stupid as to buy their brand of manure, so they were going to have to just shut up and shovel it down our throats, and instead of cuts, we get trillions more spent trying to hide the fact that medicare and medicade were on course to bankrupt the country.
The race was between affordable housing and medicare/medicade, the dems were blindsided, because affordable housing collapsed the economy first.
Has it ever occurred to you that the timing might have been intentional? Designed for maximum political effect?
Democrat operatives (Raines, Gorelick, et al) were running the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac show. Committed liberal Democrats in Congress (Dodd, Frank, et al) were overseeing them.
Surely, they could all see that the ship was sinking. Did they pull the plug when they did for political benefit?
The smarmy little Schumer had tried to start a bank run a few weeks prior -- but only one bank folded up.
>> Obama and the Dems still don’t get it — the problem is not the message...
Sometimes it’s better just let them continue.
If the problem was the message, it doesn’t explain why the Democrats failed to defend their own handiwork on the campaign trail... and why most Americans didn’t want it even after the Democrats convinced themselves Americans would come to love it after they gagged themselves on the castor oil first.
Hey, wait a minute...can't this be interpreted as threatening?
The horse fled the barn... the Democrats should have made that argument last October. They took a walk. Its a little late to revisit a subject on which the American people made up their minds and handed them their walking papers in November.
>> If the problem was the message, it doesnt explain why ...
I agree. That’s why I say let them continue trying - there’s no honest message to made, and the public knows it.
“The fundamental problem for the Democrats is that the bill as a whole is widely perceived to raise health-care costs, raise health-insurance premiums,...”
My mother, VERY low income and 86 years old, had her monthly premium raised from $2.70/month to $25.20/month beginning this month. When I called her provider, the rep said it’s becuase of Obama’s “health car reform”. (Oh; and her Social Security check was arbitrarily reduced by $100/month.)
Obama’s doing a bang-up job.
As everyone’s premiums are raising through the roof due to ObamaCare, the Democrats want to go out and try to sell it. I’d say go for it.
And what a coincidence that the repeal of the healthcare bill is now being put on hold....by a “CRISIS” situation....is it just me or are these events just a little too convenient and planned???????
My long term health care insurance went up by 50% and I have yet to find out what my regular premium increase will be. Many premiums are expected to go up anywhere from 25 to 75%. HHS can’t grant waivers fast enough. A small change in the withholding tax isn’t going to make a difference.
BTW-this super-ultra liberal I work with (who has pictures next to the Dalai Lama of Obama thanking him for his contributions) has started putting anti-Obamacare cartoons all around his office. I find it a hoot.
In California Blue Cross wants 59% increase.

” 1 cup horse manure or cow manure”
Actually, there may be a change — add 2 cups of manure! ;)
