Police believe that the gunman who shot a US congresswoman in an attack which left six dead and wounded 12 in the Arizona city of Tucson, did not act alone, the local sheriff said. ...believe Ms Giffords, who is out of surgery, was specifically targeted and say a suspicious package has since been found at her office.
Clarence Dupnik, sheriff of Pima County who is in charge of the probe into the attack, told a news conference authorities are seeking a second male in connection with the shooting.
"There's some reason to believe that he came to this location with another individual," he said.
Mr Dupnik said the gunman, who was arrested at the scene, "has kind of a troubled past, and we're not convinced that he acted alone".
He said the gunman had a criminal past and was unstable but not insane, adding that the man was not talking to police officers in custody.

It has been revealed that Ms Giffords, who had previously been the target of threats and vandalism over her positions on healthcare and immigration, had been worried about a map on Sarah Palin's website.
Ms Giffords is one of 20 Democrats whose districts were lit up with gun sight icons on Ms Palin's campaign website last year because they had voted for US president Barack Obama's landmark health care bill.
The congresswoman worried at the time that the imagery might incite violence.
"The way that she (Palin) had it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district," Ms Giffords said.

He met her before this about a year ago. One of the staff members at the scene was on the radio earlier today in an interview and said he came up and asked when was Giffords going to be there and could he talk to her. The man told him in about 15 to 20 min and if he waited on line on the side he could meet her. He was only about 2 to 4 feet from her when he shot her in the head and so I take it he got on line, where he was so close.
Sorry, but FOX should’ve verified this information. The fact that they would trust NPR tells me FOX is begining to lose their luster.
Did you happen to listen to Jamie Colby (that Air-Head) from FOX pumping the Congresswomen’s aid this afternoon? It was a joke! Colby was almost begging this lady for unverifiable information. Even Bret Beir (sp) seemed to try and remind the viewers that they still didn’t know anything yet. KInd of like a “hint...hint” to Colby!

His rants against talk radio and TV (meaning Rush and Fox News, of course) were so important to him he repeated his crap four times, once as he was leaving the podium but just had to say it one more time.

So, she was a target for her stand on immigration and healthcare. As I understand she was “conservative” on immigration and “liberal” on healthcare. So, I guess she’s a target from both sides but it was the liberal that shot her.

Fox New has little to be proud of and Colby really has to go now. But it was NPR that was the source of the Drudge erroneous headline, although they too backed it down pretty quickly.
When the dust settles I think we will find that there is a common source behind these false reports and I believe that source will be the incompetent and biased Pima County sheriff Clarence Dupnik. Not an excuse for the media not to do their homework.

The irony of this is that she was the one to read the 1st amendment the other day and her “supporters” are screaming to silence the right over her shooting.
If we had a Republicans with a brain, they would say that in front of a camera and tell Obama, Holder and the Leftists to back off blaming and threatening ther free speech rights of their political opposition.

Fast forward to this election season. A weirdo asshole named Jesse Kelly who advocated ELIMINATING Social Security and was a tea bagger favorite got the GOP nom to run against her. I am gay and had been married and my spouse left me January 15, 2010. I shot myself in the mouth in a serious suicide attempt, because of that. Barely surviving, I spent two months in the hospital and still have some paralysis. I did receive a severance from my employer, as i had been laid off in December, 2009. That may have been part of the reason my spouse left me.
Anyway, after months of physical and mental rehab, I got back into the political scene and started working for Gabby once again. I raised over $100,000 for her and maxed her out myself out of my severance, even though i still don’t have work and could not qualify for state aid because of my severance.
She wins her re-election and told me she was still a supporter of Speaker Pelosi at her victory party. We talked about how Nancy Pelosi was a successful woman and accomplished oh so much in just four years as Speaker.
Today, just a little while ago, I saw on Andrea Mitchell Reports (out of the one eye in can still see out of) that Giffords voted AGAINST Nancy Pelosi as our Minority Leader. Rhetorical question: I fought back from my condition and jumped in with both feet to help Gabrielle Giffords for THIS shit???
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is dead to me now. I won’t lift a finger, make one phone call, nor will i EVER vote for her in the future. And why did she do this? Giffords never told me she was conservative Democrat. And her voting record is okay. Damn.
