My answer would have been “I have no idea where Obama was born. This isn’t about Obama. This issue illustrates we need a process that ensures our Presidents and officials meet the requirements specified in the Constitution. There are countless times when private citizens have to produce birth certificates to prove their eligibility. We should ask no less of our Presidents. The fact that Obama has not offered a long form birth certificate to clear up this issue is puzzling to me. But I am more concerned about precedent and the overall process. This is not about Obama... “
Birthers have lost in the Federal courts & the military courts.
But there is an election coming up in 2012. In all 57 (?) states, candidates must meet the requirements to hold office to appear on the ballot.
If only one, or a few states refuse to certify Obama’s eligibility, the Birther cause will have been won.
Note that ONE state, Hawaii, has been accused of hiding info on Obama’s eligibility, therefore blocking Birther's efforts to get at the truth. One state could also end his reelection bid in 2012!
