I know of a local school district where 30% of the kids are considered "special needs". I'd say it's crazy, but that'd probably qualify the administrators too!

Actually it’s ADHD. There was an article in the Boston paper about kids whose parents get them to act up so they can get on Ritalin, because the government accepts that as proof of disability and pays out about 500 to 600 per month per child in SSI checks. The parents become addicted to the check and keep making the kid take the Ritalin well into adulthood. The stories made it look like these were normal kids or could be normal, but because they grew up takin Ritalin and being told they were ‘challenged’, they have no future as productive citizens. Your tax dollars at work.
