Can we obtain conservative consensus in an across-the-board reduction in benefits, increase of the retirement age and the elimination of non-retirees? Only AFTER government retireds have to undergo such a haircut program first.

Sure, I wouldn’t mind that one bit. It would be pretty much pure symbolism, and wouldn’t save much, but I’d completely support it. Doesn’t hurt to save even the small money.
