In 2010, Facebook overtook Google as the most visited website in the United States, a new analysis shows.

Facebook was the No. 1 most visited website for the first time, accounting for 8.9 percent of all U.S. visits between January and November 2010, according to online research service Experian Hitwise. Google.com ranked second with 7.2 percent of visits, followed by Yahoo Mail (3.5 percent), Yahoo (3.3 percent) and YouTube (2.7 percent).

In 2009, the top five sites were Google.com, Yahoo Mail, Facebook, Yahoo and Myspace, according to Experian Hitwise.

Facebook also dominated search terms in 2010 in the United States.

Facebook was the No. 1 searched term overall. This is the second year that the social networking site has been the top search term, accounting for 2.1 percent of all searches, Experian Hitwise reported. Four variations of the term “facebook” were among the top 10 terms and accounted for 3.5 percent of all searches.

Most visited....okay. I do enjoy facebook, but once I sign in and start to write an email, it tells me I’m not signed in. So I start all over again. One minute later I am required to sign in once again.

This goes on at least two or three more times...frustrating!

Is this all being counted?

“Facebook, tool of Satan.”

Why would you say that and what proof do you have?

Never been. Is there something special about face-book? I have seen commercials about people destroying themselves on that web site.

My sister just joined today. Her son talked her into it. I wanted to warn her but my commie brother in law would just have another issue to turn her against me and my nephew is already programed left.

Your dead-on upchuck. Facebook, MySpace and Twitter are all distractions and we are watching this new generation give their lives to this “nothingness”. Evil men are brewing a storm in this world while many eyes are distracted.

God warned us with 911. The next warning will be far more devastating.

The arguments about Facebook are the same as when the Internet started reaching more homes. Facebook simply provides people an easier opportunity to connect with others.

Some will use it for good, some for evil. I don’t spend time with married women in real life for obvious reasons, so I don’t spend time on Facebook talking to them in private.

Facebook is not the problem - it’s what is in one’s heart that’s the problem. If people are lacking in character, I blame them alone.

I also have liberal “friends” - they get the boot if they post nonsense, but I post a lot of articles there for people to read. I’ve had one friend who identified herself as “very liberal” swear off the Democrat Party forever.

I won’t take full credit, but her eyes were opened, and she wasn’t going to get that from the MSM.

You’re right. Me, my sisters, college female friends, and cousins, all in our 30’s and 40’s, are just full of terrible intentions when we send each other family pictures and well wishes every month. WATCH OUT FOR US! You’ve been warned.

Am I the only one on the planet that doesn’t use Facebook and Twitter? Both of them seem stupid to me.

we are watching this new generation give their lives to this “nothingness”.

Precisely! Someone else who gets it. I sometimes wonder if cell phones should be added to the list? Prolly "texting" for sure.

I don’t do texting either. Have it blocked on my phone.

Why would so many people do a search for the word "Facebook?" Just go to the website.

What do you mean by that? It’s a communication tool. Nothing more or less.
