I don’t think anyone objects to protecting copyright and property rights. It’s just a matter of what appears to be selective law enforcement.
They enforce some laws and ignore others.
Well, no one wants 100% enforcement of all laws all the time.
So, can you suggest a better target for intercepting counterfeits than those being sent wholesale to the NHL’s largest event of the year?
Oh I don’t know if that’s entirely accurate. I’m imagining that this “cross agency task force” probably amounted to a team of about six or eight people having meetings once a month and sending emails, phone calls and memos back and forth.
It’s actually probably a pretty decent use of agency resources, lessons learned in intercepting this kind of illegal merchandise can be applied towards narcotics and human trafficking.
Now if this was a team of eighty agents working for a year, costing millions to intercept a hundred and thirty grand worth of crappy Crosby jerseys THAT would be a colossal waste.
And, slightly off topic, I’m really REALLY looking forward to the game on Saturday. It’s too bad Crosby’s point streak was broken last night because it would have been amazing to see it on the line against the Caps outside, but Crosby v. Ovechkin is always a good game, even if Sid the Kid has put himself into a different league than Alexander the Great this season.
I know hockey isn’t the biggest deal in America, but there really isn’t a better sport to watch live. Anyone want to know why Hockey is the most awesome and perfect sport in existence? I’d be happy to let you know. ;)
