Remakes are 90% of the time inferior to the original.

John Wayne was wonderful (as always) in the original and I liked Kim Darby in her role. Glen Campbell just passed.

Let’s not forget Struther Martin, Robert Duvall and Dennis Hopper who all were terrific. The cinematography was superb and period vernacular was extremely entertaining.

This movie may be very good but I’ll stand with the real McCoy.

Don't forget the outstanding musical score of the original True Grit. Really captured the visual elements of the film.

I’ll stand with the original too. I may get around to seeing the remake, but I don’t know why. I haven’t seen anything by the Coen brothers worth 7 bucks, or is it 10 already? No Country For Old Men was like watching outtakes. It had no continuity, no flow, and in the end, no sense about it. Fargo.....it was OK, but it left me instantly thinking of the stupid accents......my Family is from Nor Dakota, and people don’t really talk like that. The movie with Bridges about the “Dude” was again OK. So, for me the Coen Brothers are OK. I don’t go to the movies for OK.

I think it’s possible to like both of them. The new movie can be good on its own, perhaps technically even better and it doesn’t need to be any threat to John Wayne’s performance, which I’ll always love.
