If any of your possibilities are correct, that would mean the MSM has totally broken with Obama to ride with the Dem left’s plans to kick him out of the WH. But that's inconsistent with the “comeback kid” buildup that the MSM is giving him lately regarding his alleged “accomplishments” in the lame-duck congressional session.

The “comeback kid” is actually the “dead-end” or “dead man walking kid” because DADT and START are the end of Obama’s change and the progressives know it. The left wing orgasm for passing DADT will fade. DOMA could only be repealed by the courts with GOP controlling the House, so Obama is of no further use.

For two years Obama has tried to ram through the most radical bills that he could get through the Senate knowing Pelosi would pass anything through the House...and did!

Now Obama is guaranteed to get _nothing_ through the House and the Senate is far more conservative with 23 Dem senators up for punishment in 2012 for backing what has gone on since 2008.

Obama has driven the Dem Party into the ditch and I can't see that Dems have anything to gain and a lot to lose in 2012 by keeping him. That is my answer for why “Et tu Abercrombie?” and the NY Times have abandoned Obama, IMO.
