Don’t forget, as well, that the incoming Texas legislature will be a fair bit more conservative than the last. And it
may be harder for Perry to ignore people like Leo Berman and Debbie Riddle. Riddle camped out to be able to file her
anti-illegal immigration bill first.
If Perry is presented an SB1070 there will be ENORMOUS pressure from the little people for him to sign it. Look for Perry to start maneuvering to avoid that situation soon. He will try to pick off Berman and Riddle’s supporters by making “back room” deals.
Agree or not, support it or not, this new DUI law Patrick and many others supported is down right tyrannical.

Holding citizens down and forcefully drawing blood samples if they refuse breath analysis.
Doesn't anyone see anything wrong with the government forcing blood extraction from the accused?
I realize the arguments for and against....but this give government too much power and in my opinion usurps the constitution by compelling the accused by force to submit evidence against himself which will be used in court against them.
DUI checkpoints....traveling after midnight from San Antonio to Houston? You could find yourself qued up in a line checking for dunder heads hopped up on booze.....but you too must present your papers if you'd like to move from point A to point B. Lic, registration, insurance and scrutiny by sometimes over zealous small town cops.

Speed traps, webs of cameras being installed throughout cities, government control through EPA, FCC, IRS and so forth without congressional approval.
Our society seems to be going through a great transformation from freedom to super surveilled, super regulated.
