CNN and Tea Party Express to host first-of-its-kind Tea Party presidential primary debate

Washington (CNN) – CNN is teaming up with the Tea Party Express for a first-of-its-kind presidential primary debate, both organizations announced Friday. The Tea Party debate, featuring 2012 Republican presidential candidates, is scheduled for Labor Day week 2011. It will take place in Tampa, Florida – the site of the 2012 Republican National Convention.

Since the spring of 2009, the Tea Party movement has been increasingly vocal in advocating for less government spending, lower taxes and shrinking the deficit. The Tea Party debate will place specific emphasis on those issues.

Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer talked to CNN about what activists hope to hear from Republican presidential candidates. "We want to hear what their ideas are – what their thoughts are – on turning this economy back around and getting us on a sound economic footing, paying down some of our deficit, getting a balanced budget, and reining in the spending," Kremer said.

I donate to FR.

So when you can spare a moment, can you tell us all whether the TPX got their so-called agreement with CNN on moderators and questions in writing?

It’s a very simple question and shouldn’t take you much trouble to answer.

I don’t like the tack this thread is taking.

Too much heat, not enough light.

Concerning your tagline, Syncro: If the Tea Party is all about the money issues as TPX says it is, and if you say Sarah Palin is the "unofficial Tea Party candidate"...
Read it again, it's a quote.

Your saying that I say that is putting words in my mouth and is a false premise for you to jump off the bridge with.

I've never said anything like that.

Should I attribute every thing you quote to you as if you said it?

That's why I don't give you much credability.

Sorry about your problem with Palin supporters, but it's no concern of mine if you can't get no satisfaction.

is scheduled for Labor Day week 2011

Sounds interesting and you all will be following on the Ames Iowa Straw Poll event which is scheduled for Aug. 13, 2011. Your event with the exposure of the Ames event should help increase interest and maybe bring a lot of candidates to the forefront.

Don’t let the naysayers get you down.

I didn't change the subject, I responded to your post to me. Go back and read 27 and my response at 50.

Your questions you keep asking I answered in 58 the first time I saw them.

Slow down and quit bugging me for answers I already gave you.

So you don’t endorse the ideas in your own tagline? Wow, that’s sure different.

Do you realize that your arrogant and insulting responses are doing nothing but confirming the fears many of us have had all along about orgs like TPX?

Gotta link?

Flashback on Sam Feist, the CNN “debate overlord” who was quoted in the TPX press release:

RedState.org has sent out a call to arms concerning last night’s YouTube/CNN debate of Republican presidential candidates:

RedState is calling for CNN to fire Sam Feist, their political director; and David Bohrman, Senior Vice President and Executive Producer of the debate.

During last night’s debate, which CNN billed as “a Republican debate, and the goal was to let Republican voters see their candidates,” CNN either knowingly or incompetently allowed hardcore left wing activists to plant questions and Anderson Cooper willingly gave one of those activists a soapbox so he could harass the Republican candidates about military policy.

Simple googling would have revealed these left wing activists.

Had CNN done its homework, this would not have happened. They either willfully let it happen, or incompetently bungled it. Either way, heads should roll.

Republican Presidential debates so far:

CNN - TPX, Florida, Labor Day weekend 2011

New Hampshire, ABC-WMUR between Iowa Caucus and NH Primary, 2012

South Carolina, Fox News - SC Republican Party
May 5, 2011 and another in 2012, both in Greenville.

New Hampshire, CNN - WMUR June 7, 2011

I think there are a couple more but I didn’t go searching for them.

Good, then you will be out of the loop and won’t be coming on threads like this anymore.

Sorry about the sour grapes.

If this is actually pulled off, it will be good for the conservative cause.

CNN is played in airports all over the world and will get fantastic numbers for this debate.

THE GOP RINOS THEMSELVES ARE TRYING TO TAKE CREDIT FOR THE TEA PARTY!!!!! The VERY TARGETS of the TP!

I guess I’m just not getting this. To engage CNN implies a TEA PARTY LEADER negotiating and I thought that was exactly the TP was not, but amorphous.

Maybe you can explain this engagement?

Sam Feist from CNN is setting you up. He’s done it before and he’ll do it again.

From your link:

Sam Feist, CNN Political Director and Vice President of Washington-based programming said, “The Tea Party movement is a fascinating, diverse, grassroots force that already has drastically changed the country’s political landscape.”

“Undecided voters turn to CNN to educate themselves during election cycles, so it is a natural fit for CNN to provide a platform for the diverse perspectives within the Republican Party, including those of the Tea Party,” Feist added.
