with some pointing to genetic patterns that might result in a tendency for people to gravitate that way

Not true, last year even the APA quit ringing the "Gay gene" bell.

A gay gene would have worked its way out of the gene pool along time ago. If anything, it is a birth defect, and should be treated as such. Hell, maybe we should be working madly on a cure...

Yeah, that was a stretch even for them. I would compare that effort to NOAA's continuing (and bizarre) Global Warming agenda. Scientists are supposed to base their conclusions on a dispassionate study of evidence not convenient ($) politics.

My own belief is that it's an emotional development issue. It seems to happen more commonly in the absence of a father, or in the presence of a weak father and a domineering mother. Once the pattern has been established, it rarely yields to any effort to change it. Sexuality is really a fascinating and strange thing, and the more you explore it the stranger it gets, even among straight people. I suspect some of you already know that. ;-)

But - back to central point: sexual politics has no place in our military. Sadly, because of Congress' endless capacity for stupidity and the Left's equal capacity for social mischief, it will now by law be made to interfere with morale, unit cohesiveness, and readiness.
