Palin says White House decision still months away

Sarah Palin said in an interview aired on Friday that she is months away from deciding on a run for U.S. president but would not be fazed by weak poll numbers if she chose to seek the Republican Party nomination.

"It's a prayerful consideration," the former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential nominee told ABC's "Good Morning America."

"Other folks can jump in and that kind of helps you get that lay of the land. But my decision won't be made for some months still," she said.

Palin has become a celebrity of the Republican Party and the Tea Party movement over the past two years by gaining recognition as a best-selling author, a television pundit and the host of her own TV reality show.

She is currently promoting her second book, "America by Heart."

She is among more than a dozen Republicans believed to be considering a White House run against President Barack Obama in 2012.

But her potential candidacy has already divided Republican ranks. Some party officials see her as a potential front-runner with a large grass-roots base. Others say she lacks the gravitas to oust Obama, even if he were struggling.

Yea I don't get either, Palin is a solid Christian, Mother a solid Conservative, but fair or not, polarizing and unelectable as President. I was around in 1980, voted for the guy in 1984 and you knew Reagan "Had it". He was a philosopher, leader, someone who inspired us. Palin nice lady but as inspiring as cold french toast and not someone who will inspire Democrats and Independents to flock to her. I think she knows this and won't run. I think people project onto her and in some way are looking for a Messiah, politically of course.

I agree. She is in her “GE Theater” phase, and this needs to go on for several more years before she will be ready. In the mean time, she is doing all the right things to unhinge the ruling class, and that is just what we need right now.

Actually, let’s cut the crap. I can think of several major prospects who are looking like candidates, walking like candidates, and talking like candidates, and anybody who’s not a complete moron knows that if it’s physically, legally and financially possible for them to run, they’re going, but they’re not actually going to say so until they’re damned good and ready.

Maybe the only advantage of being old is that you have seen this play before. People that support Palin must have been too young to remember what the MSM did to Dan Quayle. I admire Sarah Palin, and I think that she is an attractive woman. If I were looking for a wife, I would definitely be interested in her. She has many fine qualities, but she never going to be elected POTUS. The narrative is that she is not POTUS material. Every mistake that she makes only goes to verify the narrative. Obama can make all sorts of gaffs, but he has the narrative of being smart. Palin has to change the narrative, and that is almost impossible to do.

FWIW, Dubya didn’t declare until June 1999. Ronald Reagan didn’t declare until November 1979. Patience, boys and girls. All in good time.

I agree, read Sarah's book Going Rogue, and created this collage almost a year ago.

However, I can't stand to listen to her. Maybe Sarah could take voice lessons from another very Conservative, patriotic female, Michele Bachmann.

She will drag out her decision making process for as long as she can. I can see her doing something “unconventional” such as dangling her potential candidacy, but not actually running, right up to the convention. She must know that when she eventually isn’t running, her “15 minutes” of fame and fortune will end. She will have about as much relevance as Geraldine Ferraro.

I get a real kick out of people’s opinions...on a supposedly political site no less!

Here’s a clue...

She’s been running since August of 2009.

She has been working a brilliant strategy to perfection and everything is falling in to place.

This past year was to reintroduce herself and her family to America. Now she will turn to serious policy issues with speeches and opinion pieces, along with trips abroad., continuing to draw sharp contrasts to the Obama administration.

She has been absolutely brilliant with her PR campaign, keeping her name front and center.

She will win the nomination in a cakewalk and the White House in a landslide.

It’s going to be fun to watch...her detractors have no idea what is in store

Excellent points. It’s a new game with her and some can’t see it or won’t see it. The people here on FR who aren’t grasping this stuff are the ones who are going to need the grief counsellors.

thats a bunch of garbage.

are we going to sit by and just let the media destroy good conservative candidates and then cut the rope like they are dead weight ?

isnt that cowardly ?

Sarah Palin has not had a chance to run her own campaign.

It is not a matter of being brave or cowardly. It is a matter of reality. I can pretend that Palin will overcome her narrative, but the odds of that happening are between zero and none. People are free to support whomever they want, and they can go down with the ship, too. Palin is not the only conservative candidate. There are those that may be more qualified than Palin. She has a narrow opportunity to change the narrative, but after all this time, the majority of Republicans and independents are still not supporting her.

Insulting me won't change the fact she won't garner over 40% of the vote, like I said great gal, solid Christian, good mom but a loser in a race for the Presidency. We all deluded ourselves about Obama, any poll you see with Palin up agianst him she gets crushed, and the idiot is probably at a ebb in his support with now. Don't delude yourself. Don't get so angry and personally invested in one person, I know it's what people under 30 do, cult of personality stuff, you guys always fall for it.
