Omaha Steaks Drops Glenn Beck

Omaha Steaks’ ads recently started running on Glenn Beck’s program on Fox News.

As with other advertisers, participants in the StopBeck effort reached out to Omaha Steaks. We kindly requested that they follow the responsible action of hundreds of other former advertisers and refrain from advertising on Glenn Beck’s show.

Well, your efforts paid off.

This morning, Omaha Steaks announced that they were removing their ads from Glenn Beck’s program (emphasis added):

Omaha Steaks buys large units of national television advertising during the holiday season. This year, we bought a package of advertising through the Fox Network. We did not specifically request to be included on the Glenn Beck program. As part of our contract, the Omaha Steaks ads run in a variety of time slots throughout the day.

We took your comments regarding the Glenn Beck Program to heart. After further review and careful consideration, we have decided to pull all advertising from Glenn Beck programming effective December 20th, 2010. Unfortunately, due to advertising cancellation policies, we were bound to continue possible ad placements through Sunday, December 19th.

At Omaha, we greatly value the loyalty and support of our customers, fans and followers and thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

Great work all! See, your tweets and messages really do matter.

Here we see another advertiser stepping up and taking the responsible action. Don’t dismiss these actions, they are important steps as we continue to gear up for our broader DropFox accountability effort.

Onward we go…

I'm surprised they are still in business. The stuff is so expensive.

Dang! AFTER our purchases were made.

Not Dang.

As an existing customer your input that you will no longer purchase their products is far more valuable than an email from a non customer.

Fire away.

I agree, Omaha steaks are terrible anyway.

Support your local butcher.

It sounds like you’re giving support to people NOT to advertise with Beck in the first place... Is that what you’re doing?

Just pointing out that its really stupid to stop advertising and announce your reasons for doing so. Unless you really really don't want me buying your product (along with a couple million others).

There are millions of products that don't advertise on his show, and I have no opinion about them. I definitely do have an opinion, now, about these guys.

I like Beck, and I automatically look with favor on anyone advertising with him, especially knowing that they take heat for doing so.

This is the way the left works; they go after you and your business personally.

Ironis considering this quote from media matters: Beck’s unoriginal brand of red-meat, hate-mongering demonization ...

Omahamabama steaks are tiny and not very good. The local butcher can sell you a steak you will love to eat. Even Sams Club has much better meat. Never bought but got some of their morsels for a gift. Would never serve that to guests.

I will miss my Omaha Steaks, but, hey, Allen Brothers steaks are tasty too.

Speaking of Allen Brothers, I've been wondering what happened to their sponsorship of the Limbaugh show. Seems they withdrew their advertisements.

They made 1/2 of their customers happy - idiots.

No one is going to start buying their overpriced garbage just because they stopped advertising on Beck, but a lot of current customers will stop.

No intelligent management would ever put their company at the center of controversy.

Does anyone have the list of Beck Advertisers that have stopped because of “stop beck” efforts. I would like to make sure I don’t purchase their products.

Part of the problem is that Glenn sets an example through charity that the super wealthy left doesn’t want to confront.

My response to their customer service.

Hey Ohamabama, your steaks suck. Tiny and not worth the cows life. A local butcher or Sams Club will put you to shame every time. Glad you aren't with Beck any more and I have advised my customers that send me your crap to switch brands. Many have agreed. Your bed sleep in it.

skr: Omaha Steaks aren’t premium these days. Supposedly have the “perception” of premium. In the last 5 years, they have gone SO downhill in quality. Friends know how much my husband and I appreciate good steak, so have sent us gift packs in the past for various occasions. I finally had to decide whether to sound like an ingrate, or do my friends a favor. I told them how much I appreciated the gift and the thought, but also thought they should be aware that the quality had badly slipped.

Yep, these guys are tone deaf if they are trying to appease a small vocal group who probably never bought anything from them in the 1st place. Crappy business model!
