Students at Bronx high school pushed her to the ground
A Bronx teacher suffered a miscarriage after breaking up a fight between two students over a chair, school officials said Thursday.
Lissedia Batista, 27, was elbowed in the stomach, pushed, and fell to the floor as she tried to get in the middle of a fight between two students.
Batista was four months pregnant and was taken by ambulance to North Centeral Bronx Hospital, where she miscarried her baby.
The two students involved in the fight have been suspended.
YIKES! (but true)
The disdain of human life from the left has to be some kind of principality. Sad.
Let’s try Manslaughter then.
I have kids. WHAT IF an innocent kid got attacked, (yes it happens)and in defending himself is actually the one that caused it accidentally?
IT MIGHT, just MIGHT be tragic all the way around, except to a possible bully.
Seriously, maybe that’s why the teacher felt strong enough about it to get involved. I doubt she would if it was two bullies going at each other
We just don’t know enough yet, do we? I just know my kid would be devestated.
Suspended? Is that all? Miscarriage or no miscarriage why weren't they **ARRESTED** for physically pushing a person ( teacher or not) to the ground?
Next...There are schools that are sooooooo horrific that it would be better for a child to NEVER attend. Yes, I seriously mean that! This is true even if the child were to get no education whatsoever. This school seems to be one of them.
And...Finally, We have a First Amendment Right from God not to have the government force us into assembly with people of the government's choosing. Yet ...Whether the parents and kids liked it or not, the government did **FORCE** other students to assemble with these thugs. If the kids or parents objected they faced police and court action. ( Real bullets in those guns on the hip!)
Government schools are an ABOMINATION! They are a First Amendment and freedom of conscience nightmare. Our Founding Fathers would be horrified. They should be razed and ground salted.
( And..Yeah!...I am shouting, jumping up and down, and having a fit!)
Hmmm. $40K for nine months ain’t nuthin’ to sneeze at.
But I have been following the money and the issue is not teacher pay.
There is a lot of administrative overhead. But apparently the real “money sink” is special ed. A lot of these students cost upwards of $100K per year to “educate” with minimal results.
Perhaps manslaughter, though. But, it is sad that demorats believe abortion at such an age is okay, yet death of such a baby during a crime is murder.

An old next-door neighbor of mine was a first grade teacher. One day, as she was sitting down at her desk, one of her “students” pulled her chair out from under her. When she fell, she hit the back of her head on the concrete wall causing a concussion. A few days later his (single)mother was on the playground bragging and laughing about it...
This was 10 years ago in a west Atlanta suburb.
wonderful idea.
Someone is dead. Someone killed that person.
Anytime, anywhere, and without hesitation:
Oh, that’s sick. That the mother was laughing is pretty disturbing. About 6-8 years ago, one student in our kids’ grade school put her pencil on another students chair with the pointy lead end up, and the girl sat straight down on it. It entered her body and went into her pancreas I think. She was in the hospital for a considerable amount of time. No one was laughing about this incident, though, and the girl holding the pencil really didn’t seem to understand at the time the danger involved. The whole thing was very unfortunate. Kids just ain’t that smart.

This is a high school with kids 14-18 yrs old. Age could be a factor on how the kids are charged. What we need is removal of confidentiality laws. These well meaning but misplaced rules prevent the most basic kind of social control. After the age of 13 you should be held accountable in the public eye if what you did was on public property.
The coaching staff was the equivalent of S.W.A.T.
When I was in school, I was the only security.
1 bully went to the hospital with a concussion. No more bullying after that.
Children today need to learn that to depend on a distant and unconcerned authority is abdication of responsibility. It leads to violence, death, and tyranny if left too long.
Case in point: America.
I'll wager a thousand dollars that, had the story been about a student who was beaten to death in a classroom by a fellow student during a fight while the teacher waited for security to arrive, you'd be the first person on the thread calling for the teacher to be arrested for not intervening...
Thanks I must watch those two movies
Schools have long been prison sentences disguised as gifts to the inmates/students. While bad character definitely is the factor in this behavior, the negative experience that the school provides can’t be ignored. The students are kept in a constatnt state of anxiety and boredom, with little freedom of movement and a cirriculum that usually does nothing to prepare them for life after release (graduation or dropping out). Many teenagers change drastically after leaving high school, and I believe that it’s not because 18 is a magic number, but because they’re no longer subjected to the school environment.
