Sources Say Steele Will Seek Second Term As RNC Chair
FoxNews.com ^ | 12/13/10 | Doug McKelway

Controversial Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, who last month presided over the GOP's biggest electoral gains since 1938, will announce tonight that he is running for re-election, Fox News has learned from two RNC members.

Ending weeks of rumors that he would not seek a second term, Steele plans to throw his hat into the ring during a conference call with RNC members at 7:30 p.m. ET, the sources said. Steele is said to be amused by false reports of his retirement and intentionally kept his plans secret for the last month in order to flush out competitors for the post, Fox has learned.

Maybe “sources” were bad this morning. Doesnt surprise me, my guess the anti Steele folks put the wrong info out this morning.

Better Steele than someone who is a total shill for Obama’s War.

Are they going to be stupid enough to put this guy back in?

Stupid is as stupid does.

That goes both ways too! (is he stupid enough to run for re-election?!)

This is probably more involuted than it seems. First, I’m not sure that the likely candidates would be any better than Steele. Second, I’m not sure if these “sources” trying to push him out are conservatives or RINOs. It’s the kind of think that inside operators are more likely to do than honest conservatives.

Also, that creep who quit earlier, complaining how lousy and RINOish Steele is, appears to be much more of a RINO than Steele. He looked to me like a lib getting out while the getting was good.

Finally, I’m not sure how much of that RINOish behavior of Steele’s was really his, and how much was what his handlers told him he had to do if he wanted the job. Folks like Rove & Co.

We don’t just need a new RNC chair. We need someone willing to resist the establishment and broom out all the establishment hacks who are working there. It’s not just the chair who is a problem, I suspect, but the entire staff.

Michael Steele has been a big disappointment and I believe he just doesn’t have the spine or the temperament to face down the Rove-RINO-lovers and, at the same time, be an effective spokesman for the Republican party. He sure hasn’t shown much so far. If Steele wins reelection, I expect he’ll continue to be weak and adverse to conservative candidates, making him basically useless, in my opinion. The Republican party has to be subsumed by the Tea Party and until that happens, the RNC will be hostile to real conservatives and the Chairman will continue to be their mouthpiece in the media. That is, when Karl Rove, et al. aren’t on TV disparaging conservative Republican candidates.

It’s FoxNews fabricating again. I guessed that when I saw their story this morning saying that “sources” said he was going to retire. As I have said many times, if Fox has an exclusive, it is probably not true. If you rely on Fox for news, you are being kept in the dark.

That said, it’s the only channel I watch for the commentary.

We don’t just need a new RNC chair.

I say keep all the current crooks, why change now?

So who f’ing cares? McConnel just sold us all out to the dems on this tax scam so he could grab power for himself.

More and more it is looking as if November was for nothing, so maybe it doesn’t matter if we keep this AA hire employed. The GOP is on life support and fading fast.

For him to get/take ANY credit for the historic vote....... is absolutely ludicrous.
