If it was "morning in America" for President Ronald Reagan, a new commemorative postage stamp due in February to mark "the Gipper's" birth centennial will forever view the sunrise.
The new commemorative stamp, whose design was unveiled Monday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., always will be valid for a 1-ounce first-class letter, the U.S. Postal Service confirmed. It officially will be released at the library on Feb. 10, 2011, four days after the 100th anniversary of Reagan's birth.
Texas artist Bart Forbes did the portrait, based on a 1985 photograph of Reagan taken at Rancho del Cielo, near Santa Barbara, Calif.
The design was published first in Linn's Stamp News, a hobbyist publication. Earlier this year, Linn's broke the news that a Reagan Centennial postage stamp would be released.
Although the preliminary design shows a 44-cent value, the postal agency recently announced that all commemorative, or special, issues will be inscribed with "Forever," instead of a face value, meaning they would sell for the then-current first-class rate but would remain valid for first-class mail even when rates increase.
A USPS spokesman who asked not to be identified by name said a revised version showing the "Forever" inscription will be released Dec. 28.

Push comes to shove, you can always buy the Medal of Honor stamps. They’re good at any season!!
(or is it the Purple Heart?)
Sounds like a lot of fun in the Testosterone Arena. Do you ever feel out-numbered?
Constantly!
How is Sally feeling today? Better, I hope.
It’s supposed to be a very nice day, today. Maybe I’ll even get out in it for a while. At least to go to the post orifice.
Last night was another where I just couldn’t relax enough to sleep, so I may burn out fairly early. I’ll make the most of the time I have, though!
Sally is doing okay today. Antibiotics make a different quickly. We had to order new blinds for the living room (a cord broke and couldn’t be fixed) and then we took some people for haircuts. Bill is Byronically Sullen because DP made him get the front of his hair too short for The Look, whatever Look it’s supposed to be.
Some of the them are going to the gym/pool after lunch. I’ll put Frank and Vlad to bed, and then either lie on the sofa under my fine blanket, or run.
Last night I dreamed I was eating fried catfish with mac and cheese.
Glad to hear Sally is healing. Whatever The Look is, you will never “get it right” no matter how much you cater to the cuttee. (Word?) It’s more of a self-image than a “style.”
Lying on the sofa under your fine blanket (”afghan” in crafter parlance) sounds like a good way to spend an hour. Or two. Don’t be surprised if some critters decide to join you.
As for me, I’m going to find a soft place to sit (only one in the entire place) and work on another project. It’s actually therapy, so to avoid storage, I give most of them away. I have no place for them, anyway. When I move, I may be able to use my pineapple tablecloth once again. :o])
A friend of mine is going to drive her car to TX sometime in February or March, but since she is five months along, she is afraid to drive alone. I offered to drive with her, if she and her hubby would pay for my ticket home.
She was so happy that I offered, but she asked if I could read her mind because she was going to ask me if I would think about it. LOL!
I get to drive! YAY!! WOO-HOO!
Maybe it means you’re going to be posted to Mobile, Alabama, after you go to A school.
Good!
I miss my pet garter snake.
Still have no idea what happened to him after he escaped into my bathroom, but I have my suspicions.
Our snake ate a fat mouse, freshly caught by the catz, yesterday and retired under her newspapers to digest.
Good afternoon....
Good news, 'Face!
We, on the other hand, have a nasty piece of legislation to tackle. This is not a good day,
Give ‘em heck!
It was warm on the sofa, amid the flailing greyhound feet, but I had to put the pork roast in the oven.
I’ve FReepmailed you about that, so rest easy. ;o]
Odd...I have a pork roasting in the oven as we speak. Great minds, eh? ;o]
Tasty and filling, popular with byos and their petz. I guess I should check on the progress of Frank’s nap, and then start fixing vegetables.
