If it was "morning in America" for President Ronald Reagan, a new commemorative postage stamp due in February to mark "the Gipper's" birth centennial will forever view the sunrise.
The new commemorative stamp, whose design was unveiled Monday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., always will be valid for a 1-ounce first-class letter, the U.S. Postal Service confirmed. It officially will be released at the library on Feb. 10, 2011, four days after the 100th anniversary of Reagan's birth.
Texas artist Bart Forbes did the portrait, based on a 1985 photograph of Reagan taken at Rancho del Cielo, near Santa Barbara, Calif.
The design was published first in Linn's Stamp News, a hobbyist publication. Earlier this year, Linn's broke the news that a Reagan Centennial postage stamp would be released.
Although the preliminary design shows a 44-cent value, the postal agency recently announced that all commemorative, or special, issues will be inscribed with "Forever," instead of a face value, meaning they would sell for the then-current first-class rate but would remain valid for first-class mail even when rates increase.
A USPS spokesman who asked not to be identified by name said a revised version showing the "Forever" inscription will be released Dec. 28.

So would I.
Ash is waiting for me to move her bed into the hall for Sunbeam Time.
Poor Ash. She’s so neglected.
It’s very sad. She loved it when Anoreth was home, dozing in the sun with her.
I’m sure Ash felt totally adored, then. Bereft, she is now...*sob*
;o]
Soaking her head in the sun like a dragon, she is.
Just got done with two loads of clothes, and will hang them in a while. My back is killing me right now. It must be the chairs in that place...
I also swept the leaves away from the door and took the garbage out.
About two weeks ago, I bought a thermal top (man’s underwear-type) and when I was taking it off, I noticed a half-inch rip in the left arm seam. I emailed the company and they emailed back, saying if I would send my size, they would replace it.
They did. Four tops and a bottom! WHOA!! I’ll be warm for sure, now!!
What a hard worker you are! Tom has been reading poetry to us, resulting in much hilarity. We’ll go to the gym once Frank goes to bed.
LOL! I have to "strike while the iron is hot," which is, in itself a problem. When I feel relatively well, I have a tendency to over-do things, and therefore, end up with another relapse.
So I'll finish hanging the clothes (I only dried the sheets and towels) and call it good for this day. I won't even go to the PO.
Good idea. Rest!
I will! I have enough projects to keep me busy for the duration, for sure, what with babies and weddings and thank yous.
Since I don’t know the dimensions of my son/DIL’s table, I’ll just make them a long runner; something to dress it up a little.
That’s an excellent idea! We have a table-runner someplace ...
Heavy rains -- flooding and landslides.
Uh-oh. 39 and sunny here. We’re on the way to the gym, if can assemble the relevant personnel.
Sun, no wind and few clouds. BTW: the local weatherman says “weather” doesn’t stay in one place long enough for rain to “accumulate” during the week only to fall on the weekends.
Logical, of course.
The Yellow Face is coming in my kitchen window. Not so glaring, now that it’s a little higher in the sky. However, I still need to close the blind.
But there's good news. I finished my powerpoint this afternoon. It's still in draft stage so I'm ready to change it but only some graphic elements, depending upon the feedback I get. It proceeds in 8 stages, and I've liked to have some graphic on each stage's introductory slide. I learned several I'd chosen might still be under copyright, so I decided to turn to the Old Masters (and older, back to medieval times, and one or two newer) for paintings to illustrate each section.
The talk is aimed at engineers so it's a little incongruous -- but I think it will work.
Good morning, Undead. We survived the invasion of two extra boys, aged about 4 and 9. Large-scale battles involving Nerf dart guns, rubber-band pistols, light sabers, and Frank’s finger, “Pow! Pow!”
“The libs will get even some day when they issue one with Obamas face on it.”
It’ll be a while, though, since I believe a living person’s image can’t be on a stamp.
“Because much as I appreciate Reagan, we cannot forget the exceptional Nativity stamps that are issued every year.”
We never buy the nativity stamps since there is a halo/glow around Mary and we’re not into the idolatry thing. So I’ll stock up on the RWR stamps and use them “forever” for everything.
