If it was "morning in America" for President Ronald Reagan, a new commemorative postage stamp due in February to mark "the Gipper's" birth centennial will forever view the sunrise.
The new commemorative stamp, whose design was unveiled Monday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., always will be valid for a 1-ounce first-class letter, the U.S. Postal Service confirmed. It officially will be released at the library on Feb. 10, 2011, four days after the 100th anniversary of Reagan's birth.
Texas artist Bart Forbes did the portrait, based on a 1985 photograph of Reagan taken at Rancho del Cielo, near Santa Barbara, Calif.
The design was published first in Linn's Stamp News, a hobbyist publication. Earlier this year, Linn's broke the news that a Reagan Centennial postage stamp would be released.
Although the preliminary design shows a 44-cent value, the postal agency recently announced that all commemorative, or special, issues will be inscribed with "Forever," instead of a face value, meaning they would sell for the then-current first-class rate but would remain valid for first-class mail even when rates increase.
A USPS spokesman who asked not to be identified by name said a revised version showing the "Forever" inscription will be released Dec. 28.

Good morning. My parents are coming up for the day, will be here shortly. 25 and looking like it will be warm later.
We were going to get up at the usual time to be organized, but DP turned the lights off again.
LOL!
I’m glad your folks will spend some time with you. Hopefully, it will be warm enough to enjoy.
Perhaps yer Mum doesn’t expect organization...?
It’s warming up. 37 now. Dad has gone to walk Ash with DP. Ash loves guests! The catz are hiding.
The catz will get over it.
It’s good that Ash has company on her walk. She must be in dog heaven, right about now.
I just cleaned off an oak shelf and moved it, relegated items to the trash, sorted other stuff, and will donate a lot (books) to the local populace by way of the community room.
Still have to pack up the stuff in the china hutch, but that will have to wait a bit. Time out.
I’ve been sorting mail. I found my credit union 1099 and Anoreth’s.
Once I get the china hutch taken care of, I’ll work on sorting receipts. A job I detest on days when dates, and the alphabet don’t seem to go together.
BUT! I’m almost done!!
16 years in this job today.
Sigh. I wanted all thoughts of travel to be far away, but I’ll be hearing long about Wednesday on the Atlanta trip around 3/21, I’ve been advised I need to book the London trip 4/09-13 very soon, and my European committee has been asked to send a representative to a meeting near Birmingham, England 3/10 and the Europeans are not volunteering so I sent a note to my German supervisor (there would be advantages to my going).
See? We all have things we don’t want to deal with, or that aren’t turning out the way we imagined.
I’m still dreaming of driving my little truck...26 mpg city.
It got cloudy. The weather dragon has gone in a hole and pulled it in after him, and Jake showed me his claw and then put his nose under his paws. Maybe it will snow.
I need to organize my Sunday School lesson. Time for a general review, I think.
I’m done with “doing” today. I still have the receipts to file, but it will have to wait. Sitting upright is not an option for much longer. However, I HAVE made progress.
Of course, some of the stuff is now outside, but I need more tubs and more tarps before I can put any more out there. *sheesh* I’m looking forward to moving into the one-bedroom so I can at least sit in a shaded patio. How nice will that be?!
That will be very nice! You can get a small cactus!
My parents have left for the airport - they have to be home for Dad’s bedtime. DP and Bill are taking Slash and Paula to the herpet-vet. I have my lesson ready.
Well, moving could be in the next 10 months or anything less, up to two weeks from now. Then it will be hectic.
I’m a serial plant killer. I’ve killd 100’s of plants, including cacti. Someone stop me befor I buy another helpless plant. Coming into my care is a death warrant...I have a Black Thumb.
Thanks Bob, that worked. :-)
Hi Folks,
It’s above freezing, and snowing.
It will get cold tomorrow.
Ham and pea soup is simmering on the stove, and the cat is purring on my lap.
I love Sundays. ;-)
Please pull #1616.
Thank you so much!!
A mystery ...
I need to find someone to take Ash for a walk.
What’s up?
