What do you think of this proposal?

I don't think any pubbie with a realistic chance at being elected prez in 2012 could form a strong alliance with Dr. Paul without hurting his/her chances at this time - he's been so maligned for so long now, and is in such disagreement with mainstream pubbie positions in some areas, that I think it would hurt their chances.

That being said, this could change over the next 2 years if conditions keep getting worse domestically and overseas.

Palin would have to convince me she'd do right on the issue of the criminal alien invasion/colonization of this nation, as well as change her stated positions on foreign policy - the last election was so bad (for us) that people have forgotten that the McCain/Palin ticket was openly advocating confrontation with Russia over the Georgia/South Ossetia conflict.

Bad enough they were advocating another idiotic war, but they were advocating joining the wrong side too. Confront a nuclear-armed power, on their own border and on the other side of the planet from us, in a conflict we had no strategic interests in, just so Georgia could attack, occupy and subjugate a people who wanted to be free and independent? Scary.

Lastly, I don't support high public office for military figures these days - you don't reach high rank in the US military today without being a backstabbing, power-hungry politician, but without the decades of participation in the civilian political process having a moderating effect on the actions you'd be willing to take in pursuing and maintaining power.

On the plus side of your proposal, what could be worse than what we have now?
