WND is the National Enquirer of conservatism. They have put out these bogus stories for years. Even after the story about the Pittsburgh girl getting carved with a "B" on her face was proven to be bogus they kept up with it for days after.
This comparison of the two articles shows just how wrong I was, and,
TXnMA
No problem.
First thing I did this morning was log on to FR. I read your FReepmail before anything else. I hadn’t even had a cup of coffee yet.
To say it was a bad morning would be an understatement...not how I wanted to spend the Lord’s Day.
Kudos to you for that. Your character is showing. :)
Definitely. But not by the helicopter camera man.
I have to again emphasize what a gentleman Gil Leyvas was during this process. I really grilled him in my emails following our phone interview, and he was always gracious, kind and patient.
It may be that the experts would modify their opinion based on viewing the entire footage. The footage is owned by the local CBS affiliate and nothing was found by the Department of Defense in reviewing the footage that would prevent its release to the public. According to Leyvas, although the entire raw video may no longer be available on the local CBS affiliate's server, "We archive important video we shoot as a back up for the station, but the station maintains the rights to the video." If that is the case, it would just be a matter of uploading the unedited ten minutes of video to the internet in order to put an end to the debate.Obviously, they ignored that too.
I was really only making a comment about the media. Just that I don’t know how we trust anything we even read anymore.
It’s WND.
Nuff said.
Good post.
I quote from what you wrote:
“Leyvas maintains that the object itself that created the contrail only remained in view for two to three minutes. For 30 to 45 seconds, the object glowed brightly and then seemed to disappear from view. “
And:
“Solid fuel engines such as those used in an SLBM create an uninterrupted exhaust plume for two to three minutes, after which time the solid fuel is spent, and the missile is usually out of view.”
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
These two seem to correlate strongly. Very strongly. You might say unmistakably.
And left out of the only 100% we-are-certain-he-was witness’ statement: “The object was spiraling, spinning. It was spectacular”
and then several have noted: Lit up the sky.
Didn’t the LAX webcam people call it “Stunning. Amazing. Disappeared in 30 to 45 seconds.”
And the posters to FR and to other blogs who ACTUALLY have worked at White Sands Proving Grounds and another who also worked at Cape Canaveral for 15 to 30 years and who both / all told us “It was absolutely a missile. No doubt”.
These too have been, oddly, left out.
So. let me get this straight:
the ex Director of NORAD tells us “It was a missile. no doubt.” He is a three star Lieutenant General.
Yet
Contrail science and a guy on the 10th floor have solved it?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Your government is lying to you.
We had many “Sweeps Week” victims here. I wonder if they’ve come around now.
The SUN has relevance. An airline contrail would have been above the sun, and the sun would have lit the underside of the contrail. The part farthest away from our POV would have been many hundreds of miles away, and it would have been UNDERLIT, as the sun was below the horizon and the contrail was five miles high, flat and level.
And what about that missile burn "illusion"? The sun reflecting so brightly off the bottom of a plane flying straight and level that it looks like flame requires the sun necessarily also to reflect off the underside of the straight-and-level contrail flowing behind. Those contrails began hundreds of miles ago, and that's what you see at their "base."
Watch this video. Among other things, it shows a spectacularly back-lit vertical plume taken at sunset. About 31 seconds in is a spectacular shot; it's headed northwest, against the sun. Tell yourself the base of that thing is underlit 300 miles away and 10 minutes in five-mile-high wind currents. R-i-i-i-ght. Uh huh. "Optical illusion" for "gee, this contrail looks like a vertical plume if you freeze its motion and look at it fuzzy" so that's what that dimwit camerman shot -- yeeeeesh.
All the "expert" you need is in your own noggin. Use it. And pray for our country and our military.
Ouch! :-(
If we ever meet FTF -- I'll buy the first cups! :-)
“We had many Sweeps Week victims here. I wonder if theyve come around now.”
Alrighty then. I think I have my answer.
Look at the comment that precedes yours. Apparently not...
Classy TX,very classy. Good example for us all.
As for WND, I haven’t ever taken them seriously as a newssource.
Great work! Have you tried contacting KCBS directly? If so, do they give you the silent treatment or what?
As far as WND goes, it’s a shame. You’re better off without them.
Freegards
You got that part wrong right there. You cannot back light a contrail at 35,000 feet from a setting sun if you are observing close to sea level. It is physically impossible. Get over it. It was a missile. You country was potentially attacked and you are wasting time responding by attacking MSM outfits for what now. CBS editing a video ? The horror. CBS has agreed with the plane theory from the second day of their reporting. Now WND changed a submitted story ? That is shocking ? I have had articles massively changed by editors. That is what happens in the publishing business. It is not shocking, unless of course it is the first time it has happened to you. If your argument is so strong, why are you erecting strawmen by attacking the reporting of the event ?
“At this point, I was thoroughly convinced that the contrail was nothing more than UPS flight 902, back-lit by the setting sun.”
Spiralling backlight? I guess the earth’s orbit was a bit screwy that day, or we had freepers lying about the corkscrew pattern? I definitely want to see the video now. Just imagine — a corkscrew orbit proven by a plane’s reflection.
