Also note that what the second guy posted at Flickr as being the contrail of the “launch” is, in reality, when looking at the full Hermosa Beach photo, simply the second from the left of at least 4 contrails visible at the same time, the farthest to the left being the one in question.
Maybe not to a neophyte.
How many engines did UPS jet flight 902 have?
Three
Plane contrails dissipate faster.
Not necessarily. Depends on atmospheric conditions, altitude, winds aloft, humidity, barometric pressure, time of day, engine type, etc.
That's an illusion created by the atmosphere and a poor quality webcam camera. ;^)
It depends on how zoomed in the cameraman was and how he framed the scene.
And I went to considerable lengths to ask (and answer) the same question -- here -- with graphics.
No outbound contrail can physically match all the photos and video we have.
An inbound track matches them all.
Period.
No, I'm contending that the object itself was never really seen in any of the video or the photos. Glint of the sun reflecting off the body of the object is seen for 30-45 seconds, but otherwise all that was ever visible has been contrail. I have yet to see any closeups of any of the photos or the video that shows anything except contrail.
When the contrail ceased to be created in Leyvas' video, he thought the object itself disappeared from site. When the object reappeared a distance from the contrail, it wasn't the object itself that was seen but simply a resumption of contrail formation, which does not persevere as long in the changing air dew point closer to land.
Thanks for posting.
There’s a reason why I call it the World Nut Daily. I also remember when some FReepers (incl your truly) caught Newsmax fabricating a “Hillary Clinton Awarded Bronze Star” story a while ago.
Both sources publish interesting opinion pieces every once in a while - neither of them are credible when it comes to “raw” news.
Excellent point, thank you for pointing that out!
"The time stamps on Warrens photos were used to establish that the object creating the contrail remained in view for 4 minutes 43 seconds in Warrens photos. Based on altitude and position, the object first appeared in Leyvas video at least five minutes prior to Warrens photos."An actively produced trail was observed over a period of 9 minutes 43 seconds. Too long to possibly be any kind of missile, except for the jet-powered kind.
Great photo
I provided a pic that shows those aspects. Zoomed way out and lots of space above the plume.
Zat the best you got?
So far the only serious arguments I've seen against the Cargo Law pic are that the time stamp is an hour off and that it's a different contrail. But both of these have been dealt with.
Unless you've got something new, I think that pic clinches it.
Yes, I based my question on your original great information. They didn’t respond to you then nor did they respond to me. And they didn’t respond to me today.
I guess they are stumped.
As was said a few weeks back, case closed. Plane.
But no, they will come back and say we’re crazy, it was a missile going northwest and we’re using all that complicated math and physics to confuse the issue. And we’ll ask them the same question and they won’t answer it again.
Fun to see how many rounds this will go.
Good job Brian.
I assume you mean the pic in #111. When was it taken?
MD-11. Three engines. Center engine "fills in" -- and forms a single contrail. Well documented. See

Contrails that freeze into ice crystals persist until the ice sublimates. Many last for hours under the right conditions.
And, yes, we explained and illustrated this several times.
OK.
Thanks. This was a bit outside of my usual subject areas ;-)
