TLC and why Palin will never be president -- part 2
Last week I wrote a piece pegged to tonight's TLC pairing of Kate Gosselin and Sarah Palin on Palin's "Alaska" reality TV series.
The core of my commentary was that Palin will never be president because she has sold herself too cheap to low-rent reality-TV venues like TLC, and now she is being perceived as another one of the channel's freak moms like Kate Gosselin or the women on the series "I Didn't Know I was Pregant." As the title so coyly suggests, that shows features women who gave birth and claim they didn't know ther were pregant. You can also now lump Palin in with the twisted stage moms of "Toddlers & Tiaras," a show that sexualizes little girls, and the women of "Sister Wives," TLC's celebration of polygamy.
/snip
Palin has been reduced to the level of Gosselin by allowing herself to become part of the debased TLC stable of "stars."
Was it really worth a million dollars for Palin to allow herself to be associated with the rest of the folks on this freak show reality-TV channel? Either way, this is the kind of thing that will keep her from ever being president.
Yes,Sarah, Ronald Reagan did have a TV career, too. But it was never with bottom-feeding programs like this.

Please read before rant. I never she wasn’t a credible candidate, I said her critics will (and do) say that she isn’t and that reality television will feed (and I did not say substantiate or prove) their argument. I am well aware of men who have served as President of the United States who were well qualified and others who were not. LBJ an example of the former, Lincloln, the latter. So much for “qualifications” I would argue that Sarah is less “qualified” than she is “needed” to exemplify the kind civic virtue and common sense required to lead the US at a very critical time in its history.
“Matt previously worked for the Republican National Committee for three election cycles, initially as part of the team assembled by then Chairman Hailey Barbour to develop the Republican Partys first national voter database.
Matt has also worked for internationally renowned pollster Frank Luntz and the election administration and redistricting firm, Election Data Services, Inc.”
So maybe he isn’t a mittens zombie but rather a Barbour cheerleader?
Either way, to try to say Sarah Palin isn’t electable but either of those two are is just plain funny.
Earljam appears to be Free Republic’s own personal lurker from the Republican insiders club.
This country is in a real mess. Palin's thinking outside the box is exactly what we need. Look at what conventional thinking has accomplished. Electing someone presently inside the beltway isn't going to accomplish anything other than the same old-same old with minor tinkering around the edges. For proof, look at the monstrosity of a bill they are trying to pass to keep taxes from going up.
Oh, thanks very much, dear pillut48. You’ve made my LIVE thread for tonight much easier! Wonderful photos!
Anytime! I’m a fan of *both* shows—it’s interesting that people are viewing a 30 second promo and determining that Kate fizzles out and Sarah blasts her—TLC is famous for their teasers NOT being what the episodes are actually about—we’ll see tonight! :-)
Palin has a record of accomplishment in office, you bonehead, do some frickin' research.
Go read the post. It said that the PR results from her reality show and Facebook/Twitter campaign has been impressive. I simply asked to see the results that this poster was referring to.
It was not a response about her accomplishments in office.
It’s a wonderful sho tonight - Srah Dad teaches the children in a class of sorts and there’s portions where Kate is miserable. I posted a lovely thread about it yesterday. I will find it soon and link you. Sarah’s tweet speaks volumes...lol.
Thanks! I’m looking forward to tonight’s show! Love the part where the Gosselin boys are tossing the bear rug’s tongue back and forth, eww. ;-)
The ridiculous worship continues.
