After tense midterms, DeMint and Cornyn agree to bury the hatchet
The Hill ^ | December 11, 2010 | Alexander Bolton

The chairman of the Senate GOP’s campaign arm and Tea Party favorite Sen. Jim DeMint are pledging to work more closely together in the 2012 election cycle.

DeMint and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (Texas) say they want to avoid the tensions of 2010, when DeMint backed anti-establishment candidates who ended up defeating Cornyn-backed candidates in several Senate races.

(snip)

Cornyn, who was re-elected to a second term as NRSC chairman, has said he will stay away from trying to anoint winners in Senate Republican primaries, while DeMint has promised to consult more with Cornyn.

Did Cornyn apologize for his backstabbing
and withholding $$$$ from candidates for Mitt Romney?

DeMint loses a LOT from this.

I would have been happy had the headline read: DEMINT BURIES HATCHET IN CRONYN’S HEAD.

Sounds like a winning strategy.

Please give examples where this flaming liberal has betrayed the American people with his VOTES. We know his betrayal in elections.

Help FR understand his treachery and give 10 examples of votes that supported his leftist friends in the Democrat party.

Thank you.

I have called Cornyn’s office at least 4 times leading up to the election. One time, a male staffer barked at me, that “he didn’t need a lecture from me”. I had told him I didn’t like that Cornyn’s office was backing Lisa Murkowski, and fighting O’Donnell on the East Coast. When I questioned why the RNSC was sending a lawyer to help Murkowski, he stated “they had to, because she requested help and she was a senator”. I reminded him that she LOST the primary and that the RNSC must back Joe Miller. That’s when he barked at me. I told him at that point. YOU WORK FOR US, not the other way around. I also reminded him that I actively send money to whom I want and would never send them a dime. He was not amused. 2012 we will take out another bunch of RINOS.

“I think it’s fair to say there was a consolidation of support both within the state and here,” Cornyn said. “Charlie Crist is the candidate with the best chance to win.”

Politico from 5/13/2009

Maybe the establishment Republicans need to stop trying to pick the party's primary winners. It's understandable that they want to harp on O'Donnell and Angle, but they like to forget some of their earlier picks.

Screw Cornyn and his corrupt RSNC...they are the ones directly responsible for helping Murkowski win in Alaska.

Did all the same things you related concerning Cornyn. (except I never sent him money)

He must go in 2014, but he must be marginalized before that. Total failure.

Considering the pseudo "collegial harmony" that is supposedly maintained in the Senate, DeMint did the absolute minimum of what he needed to do. IMHO, he didn't give an inch.

I think it is highly plausible that Jim DeMint gave no ground whatsoever and it was Cornyn who caved completely. Now Jim DeMint/conservatism controls the 2012 direction of NRSC. DeMint would not have compromised anything to Cornyn.
