Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VM) is using a true speaking filibuster to prevent vote that stops a tax raise.
No, otherwise a single member could filibuster. There has to be a procedure to shut one down if a supermajority of some size will agree to do so. The current procedure requires 60 votes.
Sounds like a prostate condition.
No you're not. Any of those people who want to can always pay extra. There's no law against that.
Good God, man! You could filibuster the entire remainder of the Obama administration!
A filibuster to raise the marginal tax rates. This is beyond crazy.
We could hook him up with a meth IV.
I like it!
I hope he does it and I hope the rats support him. He’d be doing it for opposite reasons than I want, but at least SOMEBODY would screw up the deal, much to my relief.
Huh? I don’t want Bernie to kick off until this whole deal is done. Right now, he’s about all that’s standing between us and the utter lunacy of this deal. Yeah, yeah, I know. Sanders is against it for different reasons than we are, but that doesn’t matter at the moment. Just stop the damn train!!!
Set up a Starbuck’s in the well of the senate if need be.
Sadly, I think Bernie, oscumbag, all of them, intend to “cave” to the Repubs, even though this is a better deal for them than it is for us.
Then they can play it to their base that we forced this, and anything that goes sour because of it, like a worsening economy and higher unemployment, can be blamed on us.
They don’t care about the country. We all know that. All they want is power and money.
But, until the Repubs maybe wake up, i want Bernie to keep talking.
Taxes paying for abortions!
You need a bumper sticker that says “I love my {insert name of favorite brand of chain saw here}”.
Come to New Hampshire sometime and you’ll feel like you’re on a better planet!
New Hampshire is like a second home to me.
Feel free to speak, Bernie, until you either drop dead or the lame duck session of Congress ends.
