"NO Tax cuts for the RICH!!!!" You can just hear them on the left shouting this incessantly for years. MoveOn.org ran ads saying they want to repeal tax cuts for the rich. Tim Geithner said it. Krugman said it, over and over. Obama CAMPAIGNED on it. Repeal the tax cuts on the rich!
It wasn't that Democratic politicians particularly cared about the deficit; as we have seen recently, Obama has had the largest deficits since WWII. His deficits have been 400% of Bush's.

I like it. If Democrats complain we can just tell them to “talk to the hand”.
Finalist: SO-FROM-WHAT-YOU’RE-SAYING award.
The article goes on to talk about how the emotional froth Democrats have whipped people in about tax cuts for the rich has now bit them given Obama has just extended them.
Yes, he makes a good point.
Questionable use of reflexive.
Yesterday, O argued that not extending the tax cuts would cost the average American family $3000. That pretty much killed the old “tax cuts for the rich” mantra.
As we stated here, tax cuts for the rich are only 3% of the deficit this year.
I love it when Democrat talking points are put in context . . .
It’s so mindless of Democrats to talk about the “huge deficit caused by the Bush tax cuts for the rich”.
Tax cuts for the rich: $40 billion
Deficit this year: $1200 billion.
Yet even when faced with those numbers, Democrats will still blame tax cuts on the rich.
Only hope is independents.
The real distortion was the Democrat claim that all the Bush tax cuts were tax cuts for the rich. That was the big lie that alll the class warfare was built around, and that collapsed when he proposed to extend all the tax cuts on the non-rich. The whole kurfuffle in the last few weeks was an attempt to keep the public from realizing that they’d been lied to about the nature of the tax cuts all these years.
He then changed that to $700 Billion over ten years.
Now we have every Democrat and their Media cronies saying $700 Billion, period. This of course gives the impression that those evil Bush Tax Cuts “cost” $700 Billion a year.
Senator “Tubs” McCaskill was out there yesterday comparing the $700 Billion gift the Republicans were giving the Evil Rich against the measly $58 Billion (?) that extending Unemployment for a year would cost.
Which sounds worse, $700 Billion for the Bad People versus $58 Billion for the Poor Little People OR $70 Billion for the Bad People versus $58 Billion for the Poor Little People?
They control the language and the information while the Republicans stand back and let them get away with it.
One other thing, notice how the story about Google hiding money overseas that would have resulted in $50 Billion in additional Tax Revenue to the Treasury never really caught fire in the news? I did.
It has nothing to do with the deficit. They just are seething to take people’s money away from them. As Obama said during the debates, “People just shouldn’t have that much money”.
It’s all about envy and the desire to control others. Which makes the left both evil and petulant. They are a cancer in this country.
“Its all about envy and the desire to control others. Which makes the left both evil and petulant. They are a cancer in this country.”
Exactly right. This is the essence of the left.
>> Only hope is independents.
Hope for what?
Which makes Obama’s capitulation (crossing fingers) all the more bitter for liberals.
That’s how this is going to bite them hard; this will linger well into 2012.
Hope to bring sanity back to government and never see leftists govern again.
Oh, you meant “independence”, not “independents”.
No, I meant independents. Independent/swing voters are what brought leftists to power in the first place because liberals don’t have the votes.
Democrats can not be educated, but independents can.
Our only hope as a country is to try and reach independents so they don’t vote for Democrats ever again.
>> No, I meant independents.
Oh, in that case, see post #15.
