WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon's manpower chief made the Obama administration's latest long-shot pitch Tuesday to revive faltering legislation to legalize young immigrants who came to the country illegally.
Clifford Stanley, the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness, called the measure, known as the Dream Act, a "commonsense" and "obvious" way to attract more high-quality recruits to the armed forces. It faces long odds in Congress, where most Republicans and a handful of Democrats are likely to band together to block it from advancing in a test-vote expected Wednesday.
The legislation would give hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants brought to the United States before the age of 16, and who have been here for five years and graduated from high school or gained an equivalency degree, a chance to gain legal status if they joined the military or attended college.
"They're actually doing very well in our schools, many of them. They're high quality," Stanley told reporters in a conference call. "As we look at our force now for the future, bringing in talented people in this cyclical nature of how our recruiting business goes is significant."

In fairness to the General, but it’s not far from what we already allow. You don’t have to be a US citizen to enlist in the military, although you do have to be here legally.
You have to be either a citizen or a Lawfully Admitted Permanent Resident (LAPR) to enlist, but you do have to become a citizen to get promoted to E6, IIRC.
What are his Military credentials? Has he served...has he served in a combat situation?

The point is that Anchor Babies and Illegals of ANY persuasion are simply foreign Nationals who have lived off the backs of Taxpayers, and deserve NOTHING but a boot in the ass back to where they came from, to get in line with those who want to LEGALLY enter, and who want to be assimilated into OUR Society. We don't need inter-loping Criminals, or their off-spring, and rewarding them in any way, shape, or form, to the tune of Billions of Dollars and their thumbing their noses at us, is pure idiocy.
This is just stupid to allow young illegals into the country hoping that they join the military.
However, I have no problem with an immigrant, illegal or otherwise, upon completion of a three years’ service, pass basic security clearances and who can pass the citizenship test being granted citizenship.

How can we depend on people to defend the US Constitution when their first interaction with the US is to spit and take a dump on our sovereignty and our laws?
Seriously, if it ever came to pass that the US had to go war with Mexico, would all these little Mexican punks waving their Mexican flags, demanding that the US return the American Southwest to Mexico and calling for all White people to return to Europe go to war for us or turn our own guns on us?
I have no doubt that they would be chanting “Viva La Raza” and shoot as many Americans as possible in the name of “social justice.”
There are lot of good Mexican folks in the US, but so many have been radicalized by public education and our Marxist university system to hate the US and Americans that, quite frankly, I find them a threat to our national security instead of being good, honest recruits for the military that would defend the interests and the Constitution of the United States.

Since when do Pentagon highers-up weigh in on domestic legislation like this, that is, not directly related to the defense of our country, before Congress votes on it? What about the ol’ civilian-controlled military idea?
Any support of Illegal Aliens is Amnesty....there are some serious issues in our military when we have those in charge of the military refusing to enforce our laws.
There is a big difference between a LEGAL IMMIGRANT serving and an ILLEGAL ALIEN. A legal immigrant has taken the time and money to go through the necessary steps to enter the USA legally. An Illegal Alien has broken the law.

Foreign troops either enlisted or drafted once inside the borders are the ones that will be doing the “enforcing” that native born troops will refuse to do. If we all remember back to the Tiananmen Square events of 89 they had to get troops from another region of China to enforce the kings will. Locals refused. Our own Civil war, most union troops by the end were foreign born Irish and Slavic recruited directly from the docks. Rome: What is there to say? When Rome collapsed the whole military machine was dominated by foreign troops. Mercenaries from Scandinavia (The Varangian guard) did all the fighting for the eastern empire right up to its last days.
We have met the enemy and he is not one of us.
