Wow, that happened a lot faster than I thought it would, I figured next week would be the end. I’m glad she’s out of her misery. Prayers for her children and all who love her.

And may John be reflecting right now on what a pig he was to her.

I lost a friend to breast cancer earlier this year. Less than 48 hours after she gave up, she died.

That was my thought, too. I knew someone who had Stage 4 cancer, it was in his liver when it was discovered. They still kept him on chemo for a long time, and he lived more than four years. So when the story said it was in her liver and they recommended no further treatment, I didn’t quite understand. But as I’ve always heard, every case is different. Still, from the way the situation was described, I just didn’t think it would take her so fast.

“that happened a lot faster than I thought it would...”

Doctors almost always overestimate the amount of time remaining for a terminal patient. I believe that the patient lets go soon after accepting the outcome, and won’t hold on for long unless there is unfinished business or a significant date within reach.

To me this is a sign that she found peace and was ready to leave this world. I pray her family is comforted with having these last few weeks out of the media spotlight to be together, and that the media leaves them to their memories of her.
