Odinga did not win. His muslim party took less than a third of the vote. After Odinga’s muslim supporters spent a few weeks hacking up several thousand non-muslim opponents with machettes, the winning party “created” a special prime minister position for Odinga, just to stop the bloodshed.
poor wording on my part I caught after the fact.. he did manipulate his way into a new ‘prime minister’ role created for him due to the bloodshed, violence, and document leaks after. He didn’t win that one but he ended up getting a position of almost equal power because of interference.
