There have been many FReepers for whom using foul language was so important that they chose to frequent other sites. Whatever floats your boat.

It's not important that I use 'Foul Language' which I clearly didn't do anyway, it's the absurdity of the over-policing of threads that bugs me. Sure, a decorum must be maintained, but we honestly need to get real and understand that the internet isn't a holy place or anything and that unless we want to marginalize this site as a 'Political Church' or something then we should be more observant and tolerant of norms.

we should be more observant and tolerant of norms.

Are you saying that gutter language should be the "norm"?

There are specific rules for the Religion Forum. They are spelled out on the Religion Moderator’s profile page. The available choices are to follow those rules, or to avoid posting on the Religion Forum. What’s so hard about that?

If you look in the Unabridged Dictionary or “Great Insults from Shakespeare,” you’ll find some really rude things to say without being scatalogical or profane.

For a lot of us here on FR, foul language is not the "norm".

for the record.

I like to be at a site where there is gentile decorum

I know the vulgarity & don't look for it or appreciate it. There are plenty of sites where you or others who are “more tolerant” can go. I have checked them out & no longer frequent.

I am a big movie buff. I was before I joined FR in 2003 involved in many movie forums. The language was very uncomfortable to me. I now never go there. Don't even have the links as I changed computers a few times.

There are forums for everyone. is this one perfect? probably not, but it has the best of many things I hold dear to me. There are a lot of movie enthusiasts’ here. We often get wiped out by the purists who think all cinema is either sin/anti-American/useless.. OR ALL.

It is one of my top avocations & am grateful for my cinema buddies who are still here after the many purges.
