My first thought is that he was trying to get the reaction that W got when he surprised the troops in Iraq. I think that was for a Thanksgiving, but I am uncertain. The difference is that W was there for the troops, 0 is there for himself.

Interesting that FOX keeps repeating that he intended to meet face to face with Karzai but had to cancel the trip to Kabul due to "bad weather".
